Amazon Firestick v Apple TV

My Apple TV needs replacing.

The Firestick is way cheaper....but is it as good as Apple TV?

Does anyone heresbouts have any knowledge of their relative merits?

The Firestick has a solid back four but the front 3 for Apple have been in form recently so I'm going with 3-1 to Apple.

I've got a couple of firesticks and they're nice and easy to use and fairly reliable. I've never used Apple TV so can't compare but always been able to do everything I want on the firestick, that includes running things like Kodi on it.

Don’t think much of the fire stick to be honest, always found them slow and half the apps stop working after a while if you like streaming movies.

I've had a Firestick for a few years now, never had any problem with it, and have even got rid of my set top box.

Missus got me a firestick a couple of years back for Christmas. Great when it works. Really temperamental.

Apple TV are good for streaming contact from an Apple device, but you can get most content on much cheaper devices that will still do the job relatively well.

I have the shield/ android tvs, 2k/4k firesticks/firebox, for me every device is as good as each other if you take care of them and dont let the Junk pile up on it, never been one of these that go off reviews etc that say one device is better than the other or pic is clearer etc as for me the pic never looks different and so on

I would personally go for a Roku Premiere Stick. Had one for about a year and it's really good. Doesn't have the same smart features of the fire stick in terms of linking up with Alexa but also doesn't smash you with Amazon based ads all the time. Apple TV is great if you're already in the Apple ecosystem. If you're not but have Apple TV+ (their subscription service) then this app is widely available.
