The principle of 'the price someone is willing to pay' only applies when the seller is willing to sell.
In the case of Onana the seller (Everton) may have been willing to sell last January when Chelsea made enquiries.
However the player did not want to move.
For the seller to place a value on the player they typically take the figure from the market -- Lavia, Rice and Caicedo -- and put the deemed valuation figure as a sales valuation.
At only that point can your theory be put into practice.
Looking forward to a big and impactful season from this lad. I expect him to look head and shoulders our best player.
