Very very promising. Has all the right attributes and seems a smart and driven kid.
Clearly followed instructions to play more conservatively so I’m impressed he did so. Was worried he might be a flair type like Pogba when he just did what he wanted and had some great highlights but lost games but he looks a proper team player with great skill and athleticism.

For me mate, almost felt like after his first few games Lampards played him in the cup as he knew he'd get a battering, then used that as a lesson to say right next game you won't have time so keep the stuff simple.

And to the lads credit he did the ball to Gray should have been a goal too, best pass of the match.

….i think a bit more pacy than him, more Pogba running style perhaps.

Tackle in the 2nd half after a misplaced pass was terrific. The game matters to him.

Told Lampard at half-time he was struggling so did very well today.
If that's true mate then that means Lampards said can you give me 20/25 mins more and he's sucked it up - that's a huge thing

Told the manager he couldn’t do a full 90mins? Has he been training with Rondon ffs?
As a manager you'd rather the player is honest with you than try to be a hero, especially this early in the season. For a young player to admit he doesn't have 90 in him that day takes maturity and a bit of humility- thinking of the team.
