How do you know we're not finishing 4th? We're just a point behind. Arsenal draw tonight, we're 2 points behind with both of us having 2 games remaining. If Arsenal slip up again (possible) we can still finish 4th. Champions League is a game-changer for us.

Having perspective? Man City a meaningless game? I'm not convinced your perspective is correct, mate.


I'm not willing to risk our future to spite the RS. I grew up with RS-supporting family. Granted, not in Liverpool city itself, but I know a little bit of what you're saying. I just don't agree.
 

If Arsenal slip up tonight i want us to beat city. If they dont however, 4th is over. I would then happily lose to City if it stops Liverpool winning the league and then beat Hull on the final day to secure 5th.
 
They feel all fuzzy and warm towards us if we show respect towards Hillsborough - because no Evertonian knew anyone there and no family members of Evertonians were killed on that fateful day. Because if there were, the whole occasion would not be 100% about THEM. Right?

When it looked like they were going to win the league they were praying to God that we wouldn't get Champions League. After the defeat to Palace their reaction was toxic.

It's all about THEM. The Hillsborough thing is perceived by them as US kow-towing to THEIR tragedy. We are 'acceptable' if we are doing something for THEM. They pat us on the head and forget about it 24 hours after.

What have they ever done for us?

Nothing.

But what if Hull beat us on the final day? With you hypothetically in charge of the team, would you regret throwing the Man City game?

Yet, I draw the line at us having to suffer anything less than a win. Even if we're not chasing Europe, I would never in a million years want us to lose a football match to spite a rival team. But especially as we're chasing a European Adventure for the first time in 5 years (and still with an outside chance of game-changing Champions League football). Yous who want us to lose against City aren't just bitter, it goes beyond that. Your support for our club is inbalanced. You hate Liverpool more than you love Everton.

And that's beyond bitter, that is just plain sad.

Problem with The Guardian is their chief football writer is a kopite. Absolutely ruins my enjoyment of Football Weekly when he's on to the point that I don't bother listening when he's on it.
 

Man City are a darned good side. I would actually go as far as to say they are better than us. Should they beat us - even by the narrowest of margins, be under no illusions, Kopites would cry 'conspiracy' and demand a parliamentary enquiry.

People criticise them for wanting to get beat by Blackburn in '95, then in the same breath suggest we do the same against Man City, while we still have to obtain one more point for Europe.

I'm quite sure all the Evertonian's in the match will be supporting Everton wholeheartedly, Grouch. But if we so happen to lose, everyone will just be like 'oh well'.

I'm looking forward to the City game, there is no bad outcome:
  1. We Win and enjoy the the sexy futbol of the Royal Blue, possibly still having a shout for Champions League
  2. We draw and secure Europa League football for next season
  3. We lose and City are in the driving seat for the title

i'm not throwing the game. I want them to lose the league and us finishing as high as possible. thats surely normal?

You're not thinking clearly.

That is not the same as wanting "us finishing as high as possible". Hull may play with a freedom that undoes us, and we risk Spurs overtaking us. We even risk Man U overtaking us so we lose out on Europe altogether, winning the infamous 7th-placed trophy.

And then, just to rub it in, Man City draw their final game, with RS winning their final two, meaning RS win the title anyway.


You still happily want us to love against City?

Who's that, Greg Roughley? I know what you mean, tho'...my enjoyment of Football Weekly is botched by how often they skip over anything Everton-related.
 
The most bitter and twisted cult in the world calling anyone bitter is a joke. they was calling evertonians bitter imediately after their defeat yesterday, surely that's being bitter? you couldn't explain that to them, they would probably look at you all confused and say "five times".
