I can’t see him going before the end of the season. His job was to keep us in the league and he needs another three points (probably) to do it. Moshiri will sit tight, and I’m just hoping he’s proactive enough to have a shortlist of five decent candidates already drawn up and he’s making in-roads with all.
This will probably happen Adam, but I am not so confident that Moshiri is anywhere near a shortlist of replacements.....don't want Allardyce but he is not going to go now unfortunately...

I used to think this as well. But he's been at the club so long now he has to be part of the problem.

Said this a while ago but it’s turning on our own rather than recognising it’s part of the problem. NSNO and all that. You have to wonder how arteta is at city rather than one of their own.

Phil Kirkbride is one seriously awful journalist, isn't he?

@Connor quick question, why is the copy so poor at the online Echo? I read a lot of Greg O'Keefe's stuff now he is at the BBC, when he was at the Echo it was littered with errors but is now decent. Here we've got 're-start' among a load of others.

Kirkbride is a tedious suck-up, but surely he must be a trained journalist?

Let us finish up and get home from the pit and I’ll give you a proper answer.

I'm not having the squad is crap stuff. Scroll back to last August, we all thought 4th was possible. These are genuinely talented players.

What is wrong is coaching and management. Clear the bloody lot, Dunc too, and find a management team with a plan and stick to it.
No we didn't except for the idiots that were buying into the hype generated to cover up the fact we were selling our one top class player.

They are better than they are showing but our defense is a shambles and there's a serious lack of pace throughout the team.

Silva's sat at Home drinking tea and can come in on a free. Don't have anything to lose this season so give him a go. Think every evertonian is sick to the back teeth of watching this dross every week and he's going to go in the summer anyway so why not just do it now? Won't have to look at that little rat [Poor language removed] either in Sammy Lee.

Good shout mate. See if he wants to come in till the end of the season and we get to have a look at what he's all about.

I like Phil, we get on well and I always used to enjoy his boxing stuff before he was an Everton writer.

Why is the copy so poor? A few things: house style is now based on clicks and view times so it has to be spread out so you carry on reading and scrolling. Lack of spell checking and subs - a lot of stuff is written directly in GMail and sent along to where it needs to go, other is written in Word and Spell Check in there isn't great. Also, since Greg went they've brought in two young lads - Hi Adam, hi Sam - who aren't all that great at manning live blogs and the likes.

I have to have two programs installed for spell and grammar check and about 90% of the time they don't get through unless your writing doesn't allow it to pick it up - i.e. slang, writing in speaking terms.

And back on topic, I spoke to a certain Merseyside football writer between press conferences before at the Pit. Sam unlikely to go before the end of the campaign but certainly before next season.

Can I ruffle your quiff?

I haven't got a quiff

Fair enough mate. It would appear the better journalists (O'Keefe) move on, the lesser ones like Prentice hang around.

Poor quality copy from professional journalists always gets on my tits a bit. How many lads would like to have been in their position, salaried, writing about football? Ok, they may not have had the talent, but then you've got these bozos putting out some absolute rot. I always wonder how Tony Scott gets a gig; he never seems to do even the bare minimum research and just shouts the house down.

I would imagine the lads on the live blog are on sub-£20k and probably had a pretty low entry bar, perhaps they can be forgiven a bit. They're like the country cousin equivalent of the TMS cricket live feed, retrograde 'bantz'.

It's weird because now you have 'digital' journalists - Scott is the example here, someone who will do videos and Twitter - and 'multi' - Your normal journalist that you will see with online copy and paper copy but shys away from videos and being a regular on socials.

I think a lot of the Echo lads fall into it - know someone who knows someone because when jobs become available, they don't seem to be advertised all that well. They do pay well enough but yeah, live blogging lads are on between 16 and about 23k dependent on shift patterns and qualifications - an NCTJ qualified journalist is paid better than someone who isn't, even if they have a degree etc...

But yeah, people like Dom King and Greg get pulled away because they're 'too good' to stick it out there. I like Dave's long-form stuff and again, we get on well but yeah, he's not a go-to daily like good quality journalist says like Joyce or Bascombe.
