Two of those in my top 10. Amy would have made it in too if she'd stuck to the punk songs. She just doesn't have the voice to carry off the softer tracks.

At number 3 on my list is MIDAS by Wunderhorse. Probably a bit of Cornish bias but IMO Jacob Slater is the best frontman out there right now. Hard picking my favourite song as there are so many, but I've gone with this.

At number 2 is my find of the year. Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay. Impossible to pick a favourite track on this album as they're all at least a 9 out of 10. But I'll punt for this one just to annoy C as she's in full on Kylie mode.

Its time to remember there has been no good album since the White Album (the beetles), apparently

Charli xcx - Brat; brat brat brat 365 bumpin that brat
Los Camposinos - All Hell; like brat, but for the indie clubs at the time
Clairo - Charm; Sade style
Tyla - Tyla; god I love her
Tinashe - Quantum Baby; god i love her
Liodis - One Day; techno made simple again
Ghost Dubs - Damaged; it sounds like the end of the world
The Bug - Machines I-V; it sounds like the end of the world
MJ Lenderman - Manning Fireworks; guitar music before people moan that there is no rock anymore
Mabe Fratti Sentir - Que No Sabes; its in Spanish
Kloke and Tim Reaper - In Full Effect; Jungle/hardcore/breakbeat
Nala Sinephro - Endlessness; ambient jazz that my girlfriend plays about three times a day
The Cure -Song of a Lost World; a band worth checking out
Claire Rousay - Sentiment; emo vibe
Mount Eerie - Night Palace; different emo vibe
Cindy Lee - Diamond Jubilee; since its not on steaming - , two hours of music that sounds like a 1960's radio has never been turned off and it plays over and over until the speakers break. It's like listening to the parts of The Shining

i've probably missed loads but i'm bored now

Enjoying that Cindy Lee, thanks for the tip.

I know you've all been waiting with bated breath for this. :) But when your second favourite band ever releases your second favourite album of theirs, it's going to figure highly on an album of the year list. And that's the case with The Cure and Songs of a Lost World. My album of the year, and this is quite possibly my favourite track ever by them.

Same, pretty much. Probably my second favourite band of all time, and Songs of a Lost World was my second favourite LP of the year after the Mach-Hommy one. Endsong is probably my favourite song of the year, it bloody killed me the first few times I heard it.

Haha. Weird Just to see how weird this gets who is your favourite band ever.

Don't know the Mach Hommy one. Need to check it out.

I'm going to give Mach-Hommy album a listen, I liked his older one. I've been really lazy with hip-hop for years now - I only listen to the Armand Hammer/Backwoodz Studioz people really, as there is so much I find overwhelming. And some British stuff my mate at work recommends

Been a few good hip hop releases this year, LL Cool J ‘The Force’ surprised me by how good it was, but I suspect that’s more to do with Q-Tip’s production

Common and Pete Rock album was decent as well

Imaginal Disk is a good record but I don't quite understand the album of the year hype it's getting.

The only record that came close to some of the best 2023 albums for me was All Born Screaming by St. Vincent. Annie Clark finally put aside the unrelatable art weirdo persona and just put out a record full of bangers.
