the arse are debatable too imo!!

playing the best footy in the league lads! never thought i'd say that under moyes!!!

long may it continue!!

Agreed, write Arsenal off at your peril though.

All down to injuries with us.

Keep relatively injury free, and we've got a great chance!

So far, we're not doing too badly on that front.. must have sorted out the Finch Farm pitchers, lol.

But, we've had too many easier-on-paper games so far. Get City, the arse, and spurs out of the way, then we can judge for real.

Spurs have a better squad than us although I'm not convinced everyone is on board with AVB. For centre mid, for instance, they have Parker, Sandro, Dembele, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Huddlestone, Livermore as options. However, take out Lennon or Bale and they're not the same team.

Our squad options - as we've seen with injuries to Mirallas & Gibson - are just not the same.

Arsenal & Spurs also have midweek football to deal with, which is a bit of plus in our account.

That could well be our advantage. Our squad is not as deep, but isnt scheduled to play as much. Tbh my primary concern is consistent picking up of points. i dont want us to burn out.

Hate to put a spanner in the works but....

Unless we do a bit of good business in jan we won't make top 4 or even top 5/6.

That's the reality guys....

We finished top four with a team who flirted with relegation the season before.

We've finished top 6 with worse teams than we have now.

This. We came 4th with 61 points too that year. You only need to get more points than the teams below you, and it's a stagnant league so far.

Winning games like the Sunderland one is the sign of a good team. In years gone by we'd have lost that no doubt; at best we've have fought back for a draw and that would've been that. I can think of so many examples over the years, and always in the first half of the season:
Everton 1-1 Wolves
Everton 0-1 Newcastle
Everton 1-1 Wolves
Everton 1-1 Bolton
Everton 0-1 QPR
Everton 1-1 Norwich
Everton 0-1 Stoke

All those seasons we rallied for our usual second half stormer and just came up short. The fact we've started well is a great positive, but our 'second half stormer' isn't a guarantee. We can't just assume because it will happen because it has in the past. There are big games coming up. But we won today without particularly deserving too.
