Aiden McGeady

I though we had all decided he plays wing-backs ?? Why he now want and out and out winger ??!!

Lazy rumour.
There is something like fluidity - after re-watching Wigan against Manchester City in FA CUP final, Martinez had there Beausejour (left wingback) playing very attacking and right wingback (McArthur) playing more defensively. Further on the pitch - Maloney was positioned centrally (in theory - left winger), but McMananam was playing very wide on right side.

But 5m pounds on McGeady is like 4m pounds more than I would be willing to spend on him.

Dozens of better options available, out of obvious candidates - would take Maloney over McGeady any day.

He used to be the great white hope when he was at Celtic

Just didn't happen for him in the long run

That being said, Spartak are a big team in Russia, so he was in some demand when he left at least

I don't think it's a good idea. I'd rather we play Kennedy on the wing than McGeady

Yet they all got played there often enough. We all have different opinions, just think if he was cheap enough I feel he could be a good addition to the squad. Not exactly blessed with width or pace are we?
His contract running out so we could get him cheap, he got to be better then Naismith on the wing.

I quite like McGeady tbh,I think he'd be a good signing.

We need another creative player and a striker desperately, I'm quote to go with what we have bar that.

no thanks, watched him for ireland a lot, absolutely shocking final delivery of a ball, he's very poor when he has time to think about a pass to make, not many better at him for jinking past players but not worth a w*nk if the end product comes to nothing

He's basically James McFadden with pace which, to be fair, would be a pretty handy player. I quite like him. Definitely would have him in the squad.
McFadden delivery and football brain was much, much better than McGeady. He's more of a like Jason McAteer playing further up the pitch.

He's 27, has undoubted talent but has failed to realise the world class quality that we all believed he had when he was 19/20.

He is infuriating to watch in that he always seems to want to beat his man yet again, and with his head down, he fails to see the opportunities that are around him with other players.

When he finally does pass the ball, his delivery has been very disappointing.

Is it too late for him to come through?? Not sure.

I do know that EFC needs a stronger squad to maintain any sort of top 4 challenge over the full season, so we need cover in all positions.

All depends on his wages I suppose as his transfer fee should be relatively small as he is near the end of his contract,

Having Seamus, Gibbo and Duffy with him might settle him a bit too - Shay could show him how to cross the ball properly for a start!!! (y)

Can't believe this terrible player is still being talked about as a possible addition.

We could get Donovan for around 4M cheaper. We could get Sinclair for around the same money....

They want the kind of money for him that we payed for mirallas!! So many better options out there than this guy.

Kindof a jarg story? How does he have one year lef ton his contract, don't russian contracts run january to january? In that case, can we sign him on a precontract and get him for free next christmas, or do we have to wait till the christmas after that?

Not sure on the lad, i like tricky wingers and think he'd be useful in the squad.
Then again, for £5m you can get Kevin Mirallas. Is he better or just as good as Kev? Doubt it.
