When you look at the wide players we've had since kanchelskis, I don't think we could complain too much with mcgeady. He'd have to be in the top 5 surely?
this is the quality we should be looking at. Chadli being linked with Spurs and Liverpool but they're being linked with dozens of players. We should go all out for him.
Let Fellaini go and get Strootman and Chadli in
Chadli's stats are better than the actuality. He's a bit ponderous at times. I doubt a top club would go for him. Mertens is better, but he too benefits from playing in an average Dutch league.
Neither player is terrible, but neither is considerably better than McGeady. I don't want any of them.

I think you're right. We should stick with Naismith.
I'm just saying that if we're to go for a winger/forward player of that ilk there might be a few better options, like Salah at Basle or, if the Dutch league, Narsingh at PSV (although they only signed him last summer).
Throwing a Naismith-bomb at any argument is a little futile.

The Naismith-bomb is quite relevant when he got 31 appearances last season playing rm.
He started ten league games at RM. My point is that whether a potential signing is better than Naismith has nothing to do with whether said player is as good as stats might imply. If Naismith's the barometer for you then that's cool.

He also came on in 20 games. I just think it's strange to dismiss players like mertens and mcgeady when Naismith is the alternative.

Wouldn't it be great if Martinez sorted out our right hand side, I hope he realized something missing from our right, I'm not sure Mirallas is the answer for our right.
I'd find it strange, too, if I had. I've already said I think there are better options. I mean, I literally used those exact words. If I said "why sign some Belgian when we've got a perfectly good albino waiting in the wings" then you might have had a point.

I'm not convinced about McGeady but as long as he isn't too expensive he has to be better than Naismith surely?
He always drifts inside when he plays on the right. And as best as I can recall all his goals came from central positions last season(?). It's a bit of a luxury to play the kind of free-role-off-the-main-striker thing these days, but it's probably where he's best suited. Not sure about McManaman, but he and Coleman down the right would certainly be interesting.
He did not look that good v England running down blind alleys most of the time TBH!
