After 10 games

I was going to pad this out a bit and start a thread, but as you are all in here, I have a few random questions lads:
Who is our attacking coach ?
Would you prefer a cup win or Europa ?
Who is on the least amount of pressure ? Howard ( no competition ) or Moyes ( no chance of ever getting sacked ) ??

Who is our attacking coach ? Do we even have 1?
Would you prefer a cup win or Europa ? Hmmmm, Cup win
Who is on the least amount of pressure ? Howard ( no competition ) or Moyes ( no chance of ever getting sacked ) ??

Howard, I disagree that Moyes is under no pressure, clearly he will never be sacked, but hes a winner, regardless of what others think, he wants to win, so he puts himself under pressure. Have you seen his face the last few games and thats when we have drawn games.

Ha ha ha ha. Attack. Hah. (Please note this joke was submitted in december 2011.)
Cup win, obviously.
Howard because Moyes at least wants to pad his CV. Tim wil retire here.

This is why I think our season sort of 'stuttered' a little after Leeds away.. I think there was genuine in-decision whether to go all out in that competition, and that resulted in that performance.. We were flying, and I think a few old demons creeped into our game from that game on.

The games coming up are such a great opportunity though, I hope we just go for it !

One more question.. does anyone not just love Kevin Mirrallas by the way !!??

Good, sound solid start.

Could and should have been better by at least the two points we were robbed off against the Barcodes.

And if Jelavic was in anything like the form he was in last season we would have won yesterday.

But I am delighted with what I am watching these days......and if we have the kind of second half of the season we usually do, then CL football should be coming to Goodison next season.

Who is our attacking coach ?

First team coach Jimmy Lumsden
First/Reserve team coach Andy Holden
Assistant manager Steve Round
Goalkeeping coach Chris Woods
Reserve team Coach Alan Stubbs
Coach David Weir

They were all defenders...

Would you prefer a cup win or Europa?

110% Cup Win. We need to taste real success before we can push on to the next step. We didn't push on after '95 because Royle didn't last much longer, and the players we had back then were frankly not as exciting as the ones we have now.

Who is on the least amount of pressure ? Howard ( no competition ) or Moyes ( no chance of ever getting sacked ) ??

Moyes. Job for life if he wants it (he'd even survive a relegation). Howard makes a few key blunders, and generally be off-colour for half-a-season, and his first-team place would genuinely be at risk.

That following season we were going well and could have had a go at winning the Title.

It all changed the night Joe Parkinson, surely the most under-rated Everton rated player ever, had the career ending inhury (at Derby, I think).

As it was we finished fith or sixth, missing out on a UEFA cup place to Arsenal on the last day.

And that team had the potential to be as exciting as this one, with Limpar and Kamchelskis.

All good points. Now that I think of it, and just having looked at our squad back then, we did have a core group of excellent and useful players:

excellent:

Neville Southall
Dave Watson
Duncan Ferguson
Anders Limpar
Andrei Kanchelskis

useful:

Andy Hinchcliffe
David Unsworth
Joe Parkinson
Paul Rideout
Graham Stuart

Never rated Amokachi...he'd have a brilliant game followed by 5 anonymous no-shows. Others like Ebrell, Ablett and Samways had their best days behind them (if I recall correctly...the latter two excelled at other clubs before joining us anyway)

Regarding Ablett: I remember being none-too-impressed we were signing a red, so I think I was biased against him a bit (I was young and foolish back then). Was he better than that or is my memory correct that he had his best days at Liverpool?

RIP Gary, no matter how I might misremember your form, you were always a model pro.

I certainly think that had any of us been offered 4th after 10 games and playing some of the best football we have played for years then yes we would have taken it. As alot of you have said it could have been alot better as we have dropped points drawing when we had the game won, Fulham, Newcastle for example. But we have done alot of this with big players out. Neville in midfield is def not ideal. I think they have been great and am really impressed with Mirallas. Coleman was at fault for the equaliser yesterday but i think in the long run he will offer us alot more playing full back. ! great start and i hope we can keep playing the way wee have been,

In the 2004/05 season, we came 4th with only 61 points.

You can bang on about needing this many points and what not, but it depends on how the rest of the league is performing.

And at this stage, a lot of teams are staggering along.
