From Guardian minute by minute

So, how do England build from here?
The likely stars of the team seem to me to be Onomah and Lookman, both of whom are likely to get plenty of football next season. But the truth is that all these lads seem to have a chance, and managers who’ll help them out - it’s exciting to see what they do next.

Are we really talking about people who have left school, earning tens of thousands of pounds per week, playing football with other lads who are far from home being home sick?!

Being an Everton fan I'd have thought an understanding of Aaron Lennons situation and more so the sad passing of Gary Speed might make you realise that despite all the trappings that come with their profession these guys are still human.
Money, fame and fortune don't prevent sickness, illness, depression etc...

Put a huge buy out claus in his contract, I reckon this kid is gonna be great in time. Seem to have that sprinkle of star dust in his boots just needs games and patience

Too "homesick" to play down the road for Everton but is tearing it up all the way in Japan for England lollol

Behave, that will absolutely not be the reason he hasn't been playing for us.

I sighed as well!

Lookman explained in interveiws yesterday that Koamen had agreed to go easy on those Everton players going to U20 world cup finals so they would be in peak condition, explains the not being picked part of this supposed home sickness for London.

That blond lad for Venezuala looks the business as did the lad taking all the free kicks!

Our lads all did themselves proud, and that Onomah kid looks an absolute monster, but typically, did you see that gobshite Lee Hendrie talking about the team and saying how good it was that there were lots of Liverpool, and Cheslsea lads playing in it?? We just dont exist in The eyes of all these so called pundits do we?

To be honest any player playing at this level or indeed the next level up face a real battle to even gain a regular starting place at any PL club .
For me players need a lot more playing time and let's be honest AL is a country mile from being a regular starter at Everton. There's no doubt he is skilful and nippy but if Everton are going to push on toward a CL place he isn't going to be anything other than a bit part player and just like all players need playing time, lots of it and he isn't going to get that.
I know many will disagree strongly but Everton won't be able to afford him the luxury of developing in the first team he will have to go out on loan and probably to a Championship team.

On the other hand - we hopefully will be playing a lot of games next season and there will be opportunities to develop on and off the pitch.

But how can you be homesick with all that money? He could just get a taxi there and back every day he can afford it!!!
Outside of football: He's a young lad moved hundreds of miles away from his family and friends. Life for him will be very different up here to what he's used to in London. That will take time.

Inside football: there's a lot of pressure often wrongly applied to young lads at football clubs. AL's price tag won't help that. He hasn't been at our club since he was very young, and was outside of the traditional academy system until recently. suddenly he's found himself at a club the size of Everton so he's got a lot to adapt to there.

A few quid in the bank won't change whether you can adapt quickly or not

Nah! But it helps.

I see he is back at USM FF today with the rest, I thought he may have been given an extra week or two off given his extended season with the England U20s. He has always looked a very talented , exciting and raw individual and he was my man of the tournament at the U20 World Cup . Every time he picked up the ball you thought he was likely to do something exciting , running at defenders , scoring , hitting the woodwork and the S Korean crowd loved him. You can see that he is still very much a work in progress but he seemed to step up a level at the tournament, working hard in the way Koeman likes , laying off the ball when necessary yet still likely to do the unexpected. The new signings will take some of the pressure and limelight away from him but of all our players he's the one who excites me the most and for me has the most potential to make a huge leap forward this season .
