Absolute Legend Carlos Ancelotti

Absolutely.

But not a manager that sits in the 99th percentile for trophies won.
To be honest I wasn't even that excited when we appointed him as Ancelotti has never been my kind of manager. He's clearly very good especially the man management side but I never particularly felt he was dynamic in any way and he hasn't always had great seasons even when he's had a squad of world class players to choose from (Chelsea and Bayern Munich he got sacked from for not getting the best out of world class players) Plus he's not a long term builder and saddled us with ageing rubbish like Allan and Rodriguez who after shining early for us did nothing of note thereafter. I just think fans get carried away by 'reputations' like people who get sucked in by the celebrity circus of the celebrity world

30 odd trophies, makes him one of the most successful elite manager's in history.

Never a good fit for us at that time, though.
Let's be honest, there was no such thing as a good fit for any club run by Kenwright and Moshiri. Moyes did well for the fans - but amazingly well for Kenwright. That difference was telling. Truth be told, we were irrelevant under those two no matter who was manager.

The real change happens at Everton when we can attract an elite winner like Ancelotti, fund him, and keep him. Moyes wasn't an elite winner - he was a young, up-and-comer, and so was more than happy to rebuild the club and build up. But he won nothing in 11 years, largely to do with not having a serious chance due to Kenwright's absentee funding model. He was off, then, we he had a better option. Worked miracles for Kenwright. But Kenwright's best interests were not necessarilly ours. After 2009, Moyes was hitting a wall.

Carlo under the Friedkins would be an intriguing proposition. But I think he's basically in semi-retirement now and I would seriously doubt his interest and definitely his energy in rebuilding this club.

he also had Tom Davies looking like Ambrosini at one point and Holgate looking like he was going to play for England

he elevated some really average players
He also had Holgate and Godfrey as our full backs and playing the most depressing defensive football going losing at home to an already relegated Sheff Utd

And where's the correlation here???
Simply saying, it was a waste of time bringing in a manager who quite obviously was going to ditch us as soon as a bigger club flashed their undies, just like it's a waste of time bringing in Grealish whose great work mostly comes to nothing due to what's ahead of him on the field.

In summary, the correlation is a severe lack of planning and strategic recruitment by the club, over multiple ownership tenures.
