2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

Doucoure has good ability to be in the right position, which is great defensively but his ability on the ball makes him need to be in the right position defensively. But how ever much I don’t rate his ball skills, he’s been a major part of our difference in performances

But Tim loses it being progressive and trying things. Doucoure loses it just trying to control it or make a backwards or sideways pass.

It's refreshing to see that, but he had a few very dangerous possession in our own half as well, despite he was a top 3 player in our first 5 games.

His biggest issue is still to find the right moment for a dribbling or passing.

Him and Ndiaye seem additions to take us forward. And we paid under 30m for them combined pretty good that.

I agree but there is a difference in losing the ball when you are trying to spin a player in your half to beat the press and just losing it taking a terrible touch or playing a terrible pass under no pressure. Beating the press is sometimes worth the risk and Tim can learn when to do it and when to play safe. Doucs touch and passing isn't going to improve. He is always going to be a liability in possession in our own half

His biggest strength is Tim’s biggest issue.

Our results since they switched speak volumes, as does our better defensive records in the 4 games without Tim/with Doucoure.

Doucoure is massively underrated/under appreciated off the ball (however crap he is on it). Iroegbhunam has a lot to learn in that regard.

However, by far our best performance came with Tim in the team.

That we lost because he was all over the place.

He's young, he needs some tactical discipline or a great defensive midfielder, which we don't have.
We lost because we got tired and the manager made no subs. But for most of that game we absolutely dominated, played great football and didn't give away any chances.
