2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

He is 100 percent the problem in so many games and needs to be dropped. He is very situational at this point in his career. United made sense and even then he should have come off very early in that one after we took the lead. If our press isn't working, he isn't effective behind the striker. Moyes needs to rectify this.

Basically getting shoe horned into the side where Alcaraz is on the left and Harrison is on the right when there is absolutely no reason to do it.

He wouldn't be starting if McNeil was fit. It's worth remembering McNeil, Mangala and Ndiaye all been out since early Feb so long term injuries to regulars have only got Doucs back into the 11 compared to form.

Keane, Young, Doucs, DCL and Harrison all going in the summer is the refresh needed for the starting 11/squad.

I can't possibly stress enough that if the entire reason to pick a player is that he's good in the press, that player should make significantly more tackles and intercept significantly more passes than this guy.
His pressing is about as effective as Gylfi's: run up near the opposition, but not actually trouble them in any way. Zero tackles, 0/3 on ground duels, no interceptions. And that's not too far off his normal defensive contribution.

When his energy run out after 45mins, he offers nothing to the midfield and opposition take full control of the game. Moyes has to act quicker to sub him off.
You're David Moyes: Would you want the world to see your naked photographs? That's what happens if Doucoure plays less than 65 minutes every single game.

Him and Beto don't work.

It's mindless to keep trying hoping that'll click.

As other mentioned, they're getting in others way and not giving midfield players enough options.

If you're playing CM you want 2 options - short (10-15 yard) pass & longer (25-30 yard) pass.

Doucoure isn't good enough on the ball to get the short pass and play something down the side or in between CBs for Beto. It's the only part of Beto's game (running onto early balls) that looks dangerous at this level.

Alcaraz needs to be playing as 10, playing him anywhere else is unfair.

Past few seasons he has offered energy, pressing, and a willingness to break forward. However, it’s becoming increasingly clear that his limitations are outweighing his contributions.

For a midfielder who gets regular minutes, his technical ability leaves a lot to be desired. His passing can be erratic, his decision-making under pressure is questionable, and while his ability to cover ground is useful, it often masks his struggles in possession. The biggest concern is that his goals, which made him such a vital part of Dyche’s system, have dried up. Without that attacking threat, what else is he offering?

There’s no denying his work rate, but at this level, running alone isn’t enough. Too often, he disrupts promising attacks with poor choices or misplaced passes, and his defensive positioning isn’t always reliable either. Everton need more quality in midfield, especially with how limited we are in attack.
