Regardless of his obvious deficiencies in technique and control, his energy and vital role in the press is something we haven't found an alternative for as of yet, hopefully Iliman can either be trained in this role for Dyches system or there is a change altogether

We need to appreciate what he is, not what we'd will him to be and feel hard done by because we haven't signed it - maybe we have with Illy.

He's not a 10 really, he's an 8 and half and has great balance to impact in his defensive and attacking side of his game.

Bit like Cahill scoring and supporting and enabling the forward & midfield, press and being a nuisance though different stylistically.

If we signed someone for £25m to replace him and gave them a 4 year contact on £80k a week that would cost us £10.2m a year (salary and amortisation)

Doucoure is £6m cheaper

That’s down to the fact 1 we haven’t been a very good team since he’s been here 2. Bar Lampard he’s played under managers happy to sit and not have a lot of possession, which suits his style. What’s the stats over the last 2 seasons with gana ?

If we want to progress we need to change the style and players or do we want to be hear in 5 yrs with a dyche mark 11 as manager and a doucoure mark 11 playing the 10 role. And we can all say he suits the style look at the stats as we scrap are way to 14th

It's £4m cheaper if we don't receive a fee for Doucoure. I don't think anyone is proposing we let him go on a free.

Says more about how he fits into our style of play, which is very well. We view him as a number 10 but we actually play him as a defensive ACM (new position used only by EFC).

Managers are rewarded by points not style so will play in which style gains them the most points from the players they have. Hence we are a defensive team. Garner, Gana, Harrison, McNeil and Doucs all do the dirty defensive duties before any forward play is thought of. Also leaves DCL isolated and playing to gain free kicks. No wonder Beto can’t play in this team just not equipped to.

Listened to this guy on the blue room pod, I think it’s says lt all about his ambition, that he raves about doucoure and McNeil
