As far as I know he had a stress fracture. That's an injury caused by workload or a build up of wear and tear. We need to be totally sure the issue is fixed or it could come back again.
You'd think so, though Benitez said yesterday because it was a fracture - I'm not sure if it's a stress fracture or not - that as soon as it has healed and they can confirm it's healed that he can come back and play because it's not a muscular injury so they don't need to worry about it being torn or tight or whatever.
Now, whether he's right on that I don't know. Maybe he got it from the same person who believes that players should only be at 85% fitness
