Transfer Rumour Aaron Wan-Bissaka

I think in the context of the discussion there's enough of a difference between a 28 year old who's going to be 28 for the entire upcoming season and a 28 year old who'll turn 29 10 games in personally. It's obviously not the deciding factor of whether it's worth buying him, but I think it's worthy of a mention in passing and isn't the same as just randomly saying 'he'll turn X at some point in the future'. 28/29 isn't too old for anyone to be a good signing, but for a player who's already average at his best and a position in which we've been desperate for a long term solution for 5/6 years already, it's not an ideal situation and it's fairly easy to see why people think it's worth discussing.
I disagree on the first bit, but there you have it

Fair points here though. We're obviously losing Seamus and (hopefully) Patto so in my mind AWB would come in as a rotation option with a better player signed to start. Were that to be the case I'd be for it. If that's not to be the case and AWB is signed as the permanent long term solution I'd be pretty miffed. Think that's where the discussion lies in my mind!

Besides, the rumour is probably his agent floating a price out there and using Everton as the frame of reference, so this whole discussion will be moot when he signs for Coventry on deadline day!

Has anyone pointed out that if we ever want to see anything from Dibling, we are going to need a Hakimi-lite type, constantly overlapping. That is not AWB.
He used to be a winger AWB, so he does get forward more than people realise.

The issue is more his end product; he can't make a good decision when he gets there and his crossing and shooting technique is krud (probably why he was pushed to full back in the first place).

But he does get forward. 25/26 heat map below:

Is this based on pure pessimism from windows past?
It's based on logic. He's been a regular starter at PL level for about 10 years, it's difficult to imagine that he's going to decide that as he reaches the years you've already said are his peak ones that he's going to take a back seat and be back up for a midtable side. He's supposedly on £100k a week which would very much be starter wages for us, and there is no history of Everton going out on spending £10m on established PL players with a view to them being understudy to another new signing. It's possible he comes here as back up, but it's absolutely not the likeliest scenario.

And even with Trippier (who most people would have as an overlapping full back). In reality he very much stays wide and either side of the half way line. Mainly likes to distribute from deep to use his quality as a play maker.

Suppose we are going to have to have players that can go straight in and play the season. As we don't have the fan base that will tolerate development in first team. Its what other right back that can be brought in as back up and can be developed in his shadow.
It’s the manager who’s the issue.

The fans wanted Armstrong, and liked when he played.

We were happy with Rhol coming in.

We wanted more of Dibling instead of McNeil.

We wanted Aznou instead of Myko.

Moyes did not. He is the barrier.
