I don’t think that many would argue that we desperately need a new midfield general to grab hold of this team and drive them forward. My question is, of our recent players, who would have been best suited?

My choice would have been Graveson. Great player, huge presence, drive and creativity. Oh, and an absolute lunatic that got the crowd bouncing.

Ross Barkley, a midfield general? lol

    Edit: Gravesen was pretty tosh.

Surprised Mark “sugar puff teeth” Pembridge didn’t get a mention with that lot.

Carsley was so important for us yet just got on with the game without attracting attention, broke up play so easily yet never gave the ball back to the opposition. Nicked the odd goal and had the respect of all the players on the pitch, I miss him and we've never come close to replacing him.

Gareth wasn't ugly enough to scare the opposition quite the same and didn't conform with the Mitchell brothers symmetry we had going on..

    Arteta for me

This squad has been stripped of almost all of its creativity under Koeman's watch, badly needs an injection of it

Thought I was going too far back. And I still haven’t forgiven him for missing a 1 on 1 at old Trafford at my first match. 0 - 0 btw
