A 5year Plan

the first priority is the team, we have an ageing team and a lot of them will retire at goodison
If moyes does sign a new 5 year deal he will have to replace most of the first 11 over the next 5 years.

we will be lucky to get europa league for more then 2 out of the next 5 seasons while we are in a transitional period, thats assuming moyes renews his contract

Our squad age is 24, it's really not that old.

Starting eleven against Wigan:

Howard - 33
Coleman - 23
Heitinga - 28
Jagielka - 30
Baines - 27
Neville - 35
Osman - 30
Pienaar - 30
Fellaini - 24
Jelavic - 27
Mirallas - 25

I count five players there who will probably be gone after five years, but i wouldn't say they'll need replacing 'over the next 5 years'. We've only got three players in the entire squad who are over the age of 30 ! Players like Jagielka and Pienaar can still be playing for us at the age of 35, as centre halves often do and Pienaar's game doesn't really rely on pace anyway.

I'm not going to worry about a five year plan because it's impossible to predict, but i will say that we need to make use of the huge increase in Sky money to further strengthen the squad without the need to sell big name players. Replace Neville with a player like Ofoe and bring in another proven centre half to replace Distin and our squad will be strong AND relatively young.

merseyside first then the epl moving swiftly on to european then world domination culmanating in watching england captain ross barkley lifting the world cup for england, a new stadium with a 24 carat statue of dixie dean and david moyes standing on a dead liverbird while our brothers from across the park have to beg for change outside starbucks to buy players from stockport we can all dream

Where do I put my money to bet that will happen?

I just want some silverware. Anything. Even just one will do.

Just something to savour, to fill me with pride and joy. Something to bring a tear to my eye when that final whistle blows.

Nothing else compares, and nothing else in football terms really matters.

Establish ourselves as a top 6 team with smart utilisation of the transfer market and put ourselves in a situation where if we manage to sneak 4th it will put us in a very healthy financial situation and it would be at that point where we could really start to take the club to the next level, a new 5 year contract for Moyes would help with that and the FA and league cup should be taken very serious as should the Europa league if we make it, trophy and steady progression to leave us in a situation to capitalise if we receive a financial boost.

I can understand people being apprehensive about us selling Fellaini, but the 35-40 million we would get for selling him would allow us to go out and buy at least two WORLD CLASS players.

So rather than it being a doomsday scenario, it could actually allow us to further strengthen the squad and finally reach the Champions League.

We wouldn't get anywhere near £40m.

It wouldn't be far off. He is one of the best players in the world.

Most clubs in Europe are after him, so I can see there being a bidding war for him, and when you think that Ronaldo went to Real for 80million then 40million is more than a fair price.

I think he has a release clause of something between £25m and £30m mate.

I like your enthusiasm and penchant for a hyperbole; however Fellaini is NOT on par with Ronaldo.
A reason and logical bid would 17.5m to 25m somewhere in the middle.

Now the conclusion is still the same, we could still get 2 quality players for that especially with Moyes' eye.
