Steken, forgive me from blowing hot wind up your ar$e, but i couldnt agree more.

Imagine if the Board had dug deep and delivered a Moutinho, I feel thats when we would have started to reach that next level.

Im not naive as im sure you arent either Steken, in that the probably is a limit and the banks probably said enough is enough. But i do firmly believe, that was the time to kick on.

Do what you want with my arse mate, it's all yours.

Like I say the board did sell him a bit short but at the same time he knows what our limits are and he should still do his best for us regardless of what's happening in the background.

For me another poor start will be enough for me to want him gone and no matter what else happened I wouldn't change my mind. Time for a full season of good football.

How did we finish 4th then 11th?!!?

That's diabolical now I look back on it?! In fact it's embarrasing, and i'll try and forget it happened.

That side was so ****e 11th was a miracle never mind 4th.

Kilbane's nickname 'zinedine' couldn't be further from his, Forrest Gump like, actual play

Being realistic, most Eberton managers have won [Poor language removed] all. In my 47 years, only 3 have won anything, Catt, (probably the richest club at the time), HK, (total quality), and Big Joe, (a fluke result if we are honest). Not diminishing anything in the past, but the world has moved on, and on balance, I reckon DM has done ok. Not what we would like at times, but ok.

How dare you post a sensible balanced view on t'internet ?

Good point, well made mate. If, relative to the situation in the Catterick / Kendall / Harvey days, Moyes had similar amounts of money this thread would either be describing his genius or moaning about how he can't spend a fortune wisely. We'll probably never know. There's another thread for blaming the board, so I'll not take that up here

Seem to get congrats for being balanced Wool, I suppose its down to living in Somerset for 40 years, so I dont get the BU, "Moyes Out", Kenwrong stuff on here sometimes. Not to say those guys are wrong, its just that it seems some people think that we have some sort of right to be "succesful", what ever that really means.

I was thrilled by the footie we played in that last 10 weeks or so of the season, and that makes me look forward to next season.

Is DM the best manager we could have at the moment? I dont know, but there were 11 worse than him last season, and only 6 better.

Personally think people are blind if they dont see that its the board and the financial position and not Moyes that means we cant kick on.

People get fed up with blaming the lack of funds so turn on Moyes and seem to think we should be competing with teams like Man City, Chelsea, Man United when they are spunking 10's of millions all over the show and we buy Darron Gibson for £500k.

I think you've exaggerated a bit there mate.

I want more from Moyes than he's given in the past few years, but that doesn't mean I expect us to be competing for the title. Or even the CL.

The lack of money is crippling and criminal, but it's not one or the other. It can be both. Starting seasons badly for 3 or 4 seasons on the trot, sh*tting out of derbies and big cup games, playing atrocious football when we have players to do better.

Moyes has made mistakes. Not as many as the board, not even close, but he's still made them. And often doesn't learn from them. We can expect more from him without expecting the world.

Show me a man who hasnt? I am no apologist for the board, as basically, I dont understand some of the seemingly baffling decisions they have taken, or not taken, but FFS, on balance, Moyes is a good manager, getting more out of squads than most could do.

That doesn't make our derby record acceptable.

Winning derby matches should be near the top of any Everton manager's priorities.

I didn't disagree with any of that, and I don't.

But why can't we expect a bit more from him, still? Good managers strive to improve, and you don't improve with a "he does well like, so let's just settle for that" attitude.

FFS the man is on £65K a year. We should have expectations for him, not sympathy.

Could not disagree with that mate, even down here the sense of shock was felt when the team was announced. Me and the arle fella discussed it over a beer, and we could not get it. At all. Like I said, I am not a apologist for the board, or for the mistakes that Moyes has made, but, on balance, I would rather have him there than any others we could realistically get.

You see, yes, this is a fair enough opinion.

But people seem to just think "oh well Moyes will be Moyes; he is who he is".

I want Moyes to be the Everton boss. I just want Moyes to learn from mistakes more, and seek to improve rather than embrace the current fog of head-to-toe mediocrity that is choking this club.
