Moyes beat Brendon Rodgers twice last year so obviously we'll dominate the derbies next year. No Kuyt now either. That guy always scared me.

There's no doubt Moyes has brought consistency, year-to-year. Which is kind of odd seeing as consistency "during" the season is nowhere to be found. I guess you could say we are consistently bad before January and consistently good after January. Jelavic may be a game changer though. He seems to make everyone better up front. His one touch passing and shooting speeds everything up and forces others to speed up their play as well.

Who (and suggestions must be realistic to our financial state) could have come in at any stage during the last 10 years and done a better job on the shoe-string budget DM has had to endure and work with?

I think that if the David Moyes of 2005 had taken over in 2009 we'd have done better since.

A couple of better results in the first half of the season and I would love to finish 6th and try and do a bit in Europe.

As a manager, Moyes has taken us as far as the purse strings allow, we cannot go any further unless we have a great run and manage 6th, but thats it.

The problem with Moyes is how he gets there.

At times he plays it far too safe, lacks aggression is his tactics and team selection, is often slow to react, doesn't play entertaining football and any player that comes to the club with an ounce of flair quickly gets labelled a risk, a liability, not a Moyes type player.

Played with one striker at home to newly promoted QPR... opening game of the season.. at home.

Not brave enough.

Basically we are no better off than his first season 7th place. 10years on, still 7th after reaching the highs of 4th and being on the coat tails of really challenging the big 4's dominance we have fallen back off again. Money talks and we are whispering.

How did we finish 4th then 11th?!!?

That's diabolical now I look back on it?! In fact it's embarrasing, and i'll try and forget it happened.

plotted on a graph, those first 4 seasons would look just like a capital M.
up to 7th, down to 17th up to 4th down to 11th. maybe our leader isnt woried about winning but just wants to spell out his surname..............its a conspiracy!

Put it into context.

Here's our positions every year during the good times.

8th, 7th, 7th, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 4th, 8th, 6th.

And since Harvey left.

9th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 15th, 6th, 15th, 17th, 14th, 13th, 16th, 15th.

Then Moyes took over and we've had.

7th, 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th, 7th.

taking all those finishes into account, the linear trend up to the end of last season would be of decline which is obvious to everyone, however taking the moyes results alone there is a fairly significant trend of improvement
