I seem to remember representatives of tv companies from over 35 countries were at GP for the Wimbledon game - I wonder why?

Mate, we were dog ****e throughout the 90's and you know it. Bar that 18 month spell in the mid 90's we were utter poo !

As a fan and you would be a ****ing liar if you said you didn't...... i always breathed and slept easier when we reached 40 points in the league. I can guarantee that 40 points was the aim every single year in that decade and even the early years of the new millenium from those within our club too. Anything more was a bonus !

You are 'flirting with relegation' if you are thinking this way.

Is it that way now ? No chance.......

No he's not saying we should settle, he's saying we should be grateful things are better, and they are! Boss stats there to back it up. Not quite sure why you are so wound up. Also, pineapple on pizza: Good idea or bad idea?

Mike Walker was very under rated, never given a proper chance

And since Everton ? What happened to him ?

Yeah he really kicked on shown how stupid we were to get rid hey.

Im glad he didn't get a proper chance as it wouldn't of been just 17 years without a trophy looking back would it ?

You want to talk about rewriting history? Okay, lets look at the league finishes from the last 20 years. With the exception of one season under Joe Royle, let's see if people can pinpoint when our fortunes as a club picked up:

1991/92 - 12th
1992/93 - 13th
1993/94 - 17th
1994/95 - 15th
1995/96 - 6th
1996/97 - 15th
1997/98 - 17th
1998/99 - 14th
1999/00 - 13th
2000/01 - 16th
2001/02 - 15th
2002/03 - 7th
2003/04 - 17th
2004/05 - 4th
2005/06 - 11th
2006/07 - 6th
2007/08 - 5th
2008/09 - 5th
2009/10 - 8th
2010/11 - 7th
2011/12 - 7th

Only twice in the past 10 seasons under Moyes have we finished lower than 10th.

Compared to only finishing above 12th once in the 11 seasons before Moyes came.

Of those 11 seasons before Moyes, 2 of the seasons we survived relegation on the final day, and 1 of those was on goal difference and thanks to Chelsea beating Bolton, as we couldn't beat Coventry at home to save ourselves.

Of the other 9 seasons, 1 was a close call (96/97; we won only 1 of our last 8 games) and the 4 years under Smith were all years of struggle, be it pulling clear of relegation in the March/April time period each season.

So, that's a total of 7 out of the 11 seasons before Moyes came that we were involved in a relegation fight, to varying degrees of seriousness.

If the stark look at the positional finishes above for the past 20 years don't illustrate the impact Moyes had on the club, very little else will.

It's undeniable he's made matters better. He single handedly injected a level of professionalism into the club to take us from an organisation looking over its shoulder to one looking forward to break through a glass ceiling. It'd be churlish to deny that.

But that's not to say he cant be criticised for being a manager that cant quite put the pieces together at crucial moments, or for nailing his colours to the mast of the status quo under Kenwright, or for elevating himself above the club on frequent occasions. And it doesn't mean either that we cant speculate past Moyes to who could do a better job (you can bet your bottom dollar Moyes is looking beyond Everton and speculating where he'll be in the near future).

Sweet. So Pineapple on Pizza is a yes for you.

Yes. Yes, I do.

You serious ? Having been given the same funds and how mega rich individuals are ruining the game now ?

Lets be totally honest here and say it wouldn't be that big of a difference considering right. I was just throwing this out there though as we will never know obviously.

We could try comparing ourselves to any other club with no money in which case we are doing very very well. The whole concept that we should by right be winning stuff irregardless of financial constraints is simply childish daydreaming, we all want to win something and I think under Moyes we will, he's gotten us to within 80 minutes of a cup once already but to say he's not been good enough because he hasn't won anything and to say the only thing that counts is silverware is mental.
It means that if we lost the final in the FA cup, League cup and Champions League and finished second in the league its no different that getting knocked out first rounds and finishing 17th.
The only thing that matters is progress, to what end we shall see but we want cups, we want wins and we want to be a giant club again. You cannot do that easily from the starting position Moyes was given and the funds he has been given to change things. To say it doesn't matter because he won nothing is very blinkered.
We have no money but looking at the difference Moyes has made to us, unless we get some he is probably our best chance of improving from where we are now to where the daydreamers think we are.
We all think we should be in the same place - winning things and ruling the football world as all fans do about their clubs.. But we are not and that is not down to Moyes, that we are even in the Premiership probably is though.

Don't disagree with you at all Davek. Just think the stats were posted in a different context. I think they are posted with the intent of showing progression we can be pleased about. No one is saying you can't be critical like. It would eliminate what you are best at.
