But, ironically, we are more well known as a football club than was the case 35 years ago when we were the best team in Europe. How so? Simply because we are a permanent fixture in the richest, most watched league in the world. Football is exponentially more popular as a sport than in the 80's and is followed in countries who had no interest in the sport at that time. Everton FC is more famous around the world than it has ever been. That is an undisputed fact
As regards raising the club's profile for sponsorship and generating more match day income and non match day income, isn't that the very reason we are moving to a world class stadium?
Sponsors and advertisers pay more to be associated with success .
The same reason ‘global fans ‘ will mostly buy the shirts etc. of successful clubs.
What is our profile ?
A mid table club that clings onto its longstanding presence in the top league by its fingertips?
Ironically we are too big to be considered an underdog.
What is our USP?
The stadium may raise our profile for a few months but unless we improve the football and begin challenging for trophies that will soon fade.
We need success to breed success, without that we will continue to plough the same nondescript mid table furrow until one day our luck runs out.
That is if we survive the current crisis and that’s far from certain at the moment.
