30 Years of Excuses

When are we going to stop as fanbase finding excuses to avoid having tough conversations about our football club and its ambitions.

It’s a bit cult like, similar to those lot across the park.
Correct. All of the accept AOS fan group, will tell you we are in Transition, Moyes needs more time (up to another 7 years). Dont listen to a word of it. New manager required ASAP

This club have an excuse for every scenario

There's no value in January so we will wait

Then there's a world cup in June July so summer window will be tough. We'll have to wait to the deadline.

There won't be value on deadline so we will wait till next summer.

And repeat
But hey, here's a new fourth kit and donut with a bit of blue food colouring on! This Bud's a Blue...with a bit of red.

I feel our fans are the problem lads.
I know this is you, chico, but, after awhile, do you not feel like you're just beaten down? It's not even like we make up the numbers. We basically forfeit every single time we play the traditional TOP 6(which, really, we were in but never ever credited with) bs. It's just deflating honestly. It's weird to think we spent 700m on a stadium only to just sit exactly where we were 10 years ago.

Any form of consistency and success is always sometime in the future which we never reach and there are always excuses for everything. Kicking the can down the road for the foreseeable.

What do you suggest?

It's easy to come in here and and do the whole "NSNO Lad! We need to stop accepting mediocrity" etc. etc. as many on here have done... every week it seems there's another thread like this.
But none of you offer any solutions, just more complaints.

So, what then? Another clique fan group? Another protest? Couple of signs at the match?

I do mate but I’ve long ceased letting Everton make me feel that way and I reckon the longer term trajectory is much better, with or without Moyes.

Newly promoted clubs can spend on a whole team of new players and blend them together in one season. Everton always go on about how everything has to be a slow build. It’s always building to nothing. Not one manager has got anything over the line. Most can’t even manage a derby win, or an away win at a sky six team. They can’t even get a cup run going, even when given favourable draws.

Just buy better players, it’s that simple.

For me, i can see a clear pathway to better times. Its something i wasnt seeing at all previously to this since Ancelotti left and on that occasion it was unfortuantely false hope. The nature of the league now is such that there is no quick fix and if you get things wrong it can quickly spiral the other way.

There has definately been progress this season but injuries/afcon has come at a bad time. There are some issues Moyes must deal with, in particular right back and up front. But i can see progress and i'm optimistic, i would certainly be less so if fans forced a managerial change which could be costly. I would almost certainly be looking at those in charge of recruitment before the manager.
I think you make a lot of sensible points. Barry and Beto may be nice blokes but are simply not good enough. I agree we need a right back. No doubt Moyes will be giving them a proverbial bollocking but where are the leaders on the pitch? They should be kicking their teammates up the rear if they are not putting the effort in. Maybe it's all just too easy for some of them to pick up the cash and not worry as we are not getting relegated. We are probably not alone though, plenty of teams are full of mediocre players.
