2026 FIFA World Cup

Anyone here actually going to it?

Gave my tickets up, purely from the cost of accommodation.

Miami, for a hostel was about $400 for 3 nights.

Im away with the missus before in Texas and im paying like $450 for 4 nights for a penthouse with a pool.

£200 a ticket was hard enough to stomach, but the hotels and all sorts are astronomical.
Mexico City hotels are up 900% alone. Booked a flight for England-Mexico (last 16 potential), but the fact England might not have got there meant Id just have spent a lot of money to be fleeced.

Ill do Mexico City when hotel prices are back to normal.

I was going to Vancouver, Seattle & San Francisco. Got a big Birthday in June and had planned a Road trip.
Not going now, no chance.
Me personally, I wouldn't go at all to any WC venues due to the incendiary tensions that will already be high before a single fan arrives. But those 3 locations are generally safe harbor in terms of politics, SF perhaps the most conservative of 3 (downward spiral from hippy era) - ICE won't be a factor in those geographical areas simply due to the governors of both states openly opposed to any presence on ground. They'll also have spirited local support for football - geographically its the sweetspot for football fans in US/Canada, IMHO

And BC is frankly, magical - don't miss it

You mentioning transport just reminded me how much of a disaster the "Dallas" location is going to be for getting to/from. Cowboys stadium is in a location that houses 3 major stadiums, and literally zero trains or busses service it. Absolutely none. Plus it's like 20 miles from downtown Dallas.

Granted, the cities are trying to work out some kind of shuttle service to get to the stadium without a car but I have no idea how traveling fans are going to do this. Luckily I can just bum rides from people nearby but I truly don't understand how people are going to get around here. They're in for a surprise.

I remember the horror stories from the Club World Cup, fans going to Dolphins Stadium for $20 in an uber from downtown Miami, then being charged $250 on way back.

Americans are almost used to being fleeced like this, like with Dynamic seating, but the rest of the World isn't.

Not a knock on American's more the unjust system you all face.

I was lucky enough to attend the two semi finals of NCAA Final 4 🏀 in Phoenix. Stadium actually in Glendale. We got a lift out from my mates Mrs and the lads in the group knew on the way out that we’d be hanging on for a few hours after as an Uber would be north of $300. Just completely accepted practice there. And definitely no bud option!

We have friends from Wisconsin, definitely not trumpers, coming in October. We will do our best to ease their embarrassment, but they are also spending three weeks touring elsewhere in Ireland.

I hope they don't meet any idiots who think all Americans are the same as the maga-tts. I really feel for them.

Minnesota's outgoing Governor is a democrat.
