1878s Atmosphere Fund - please donate

Yeah there seems to be some suggestion that the club should just finance the whole thing, which seems a bit daft to me. It's either a fan led initiative or it's not, I don't think we can really have it both ways.

Mad how the club don’t fund this.

Would they take it?

If the club offered to fund this place, I'd leg them because it'll no longer be fan led/independent then.

There's a lot to be said for fan led initiatives - I think them fundraising (with club help of prizes etc) is ideal. Keeps it genuine and authentic.

So are these unrelated to the 1878’s then? Said in the other thread they had previously had some much larger Tifos that weren’t shown on the photo at BMD.

Also iirc wasn’t there some posting about how they were going to avoid focusing on the older history and try to do newer stuff or am I imagining that?

Assume so mate, otherwise they'd be using the banners wouldn't they?

They've done absolutely loads. Here's a few more;

I'm not sure of your point? This isn't the first time i've seen this mentioned, there has been a recurring suggestion from people when it has come up that the club should just pay for it. My point is that I don't agree, as then it won't be a fan led initiative. The club might as well just put their own flags or whatever out if they're paying for it, the idea of having stuff done independently is that it's more authentic and has more 'soul' than if the club themselves just give us all a flag to wave.
Where in any of my posts do I suggest that the club should pay for it all? I just feel that the club could do more than just giving a bit of signed memorabilia (e.g. organise donations from players, Dan Meis etc). It should be fan led and I hope everyone reading this thread contributes something if they can. It would be hypocritical to call for a fan led initiative and fail to donate.

I don't know how much clearer I can make it that I'm not talking about you specifically to be honest mate, I didn't even reply to your post, you've just started talking to me as if I did for some bizarre reason. Whether I or anybody else donates to this is absolutely nothing to do with you, but there would be nothing hypocritical at all in me not donating based on what i've said.

Ok, sorry. I didn't intend to start an argument either. Let's leave it there. Hope the 1878s can raise enough money to get a flag display in the next couple of months.

If I played for Everton I would fund it like

It’s a shame people like me don’t get to be millionaires
Me too
Trouble is mate, these millionaires are usually tight arses.
You could argue as well that other things would benefit more from donations, Alder Hey for instance.
But I’m with you, I would definitely throw in a Bob or two.
Off now to throw in a tenner instead.

Could they do a bucket donation collection at the next home game?
