The rebuild

Could you imagine if a team had sponsorships by a big Asian company like Chang for about 10+ years. The official beer/brew and sponsor of Everything in and around Thailand. But didn't monetise it AT ALL.

I can't, it'd be absolutely inept.

Oh wait.

Or be in Europe for 10 years straight and be unable to have any presence or image in Europe?

Unfathomable.

OH WAIT

That's under different ownership.

If you're talking about now... personally think it's tapped out on a ceiling. Can probably squeeze a couple of mill from other places...but we're not the only club outside the top 6 that are limited to avenues.

Leeds United have had virtually the exact league positions we have had the last 3 years - we have a larger fanbase and a bigger ground..

Their revenue increased by 20% based purely on TV money from the championship to the prem. Hence the increase in overall revenue.

And surprisingly enough...their merchandise and match day revenue sales are similar to ours (one club in the 3rd largest city in England for eg)

We make more money via shirt sponsorship..
However Leeds don't have a terrible exclusivity deal with someone like kitbag (which I think expires in 2025)...so Leeds have an edge as we're massively hamstrung in that department.

So essentially you agree. Leeds should never be above us in the Deloitte revenue study.

Well they won't be now and they were only there for 1 season which was due on the back of them heading into the premiership and finishing 9th.

Disingenuous to dismiss the size of their fanbase too. Same with Villa who will no doubt jump up over us soon, Newcastle already are doing.

End of the day we've been about 8th biggest club in terms of revenue and done nothing of note on the pitch for close to 10 years. It's gonna drop.

Making Everton great again masterplan next steps:
  1. Kenwright out
  2. DBB out
  3. Sharp out
  4. New chairman in
  5. New CEO in
  6. Replacement panda brought in
  7. 2 New board members that know their onions in
  8. Maupay out
  9. Holgate out
  10. Godfrey out
  11. Davies out
  12. Keane out
  13. Iwobi out
  14. Con someone to take Delle off our hands for 25% of his wages
  15. Simms loaned out
  16. Coady signed
  17. Decision on Onana staying or going to fund transfers early in the window not 5 mins to it closing
  18. New striker signed
  19. Another striker signed/loaned
  20. If Onana goes new CM signed
  21. New right winger signed
  22. New left back signed/loaned
  23. Possibly new right back on loan given the other 2 can barely play 3 matches in a row
  24. If one of those can play centre back as well then great else loan in a CB
Easy this rebuilding club thingy.
Stop Loaning Players would be a start. We loaned in Vinagre to loan out Nkounkou which has just wiped out any profit we could acheive on Nlounkou. We need to back our youth academy to bulk out the squad instead of Loan players. In the last 4 season our loans in are Vinagre (waste of space), Coady (Decent), El Ghazi (waste of space), Van de beek (Waste of Space), Robin Olsne (WoS), Sidibe (WoS)

Different ownership - yes, that of Kenwright and his cronies, whereas now we're with Kenwright and his cronies. Some of whom are creaming at the fact we've gotten a mediocre sum for this season too lol

We are limited now - when we weren't and were a constant in the Europa League/UEFA Cup and being competitive in (or flat out getting out of the) groups there was a lot of self-backpatting and admiration from other chairmen, instead of looking into the venues to market abroad.

Ideally the club is sold and the new owners make changes in the boardroom and in the C suite. Then those people can start to evaluate and make the necessary changes in the structure of the rest of the club starting hopefully with defining the DOF role and hiring someone new if that is deemed necessary. Once that is in place we can move on to the manager and the players who will need to align with the longer term plan the new leadership draws up.

I don't really believe that'll all happen, and it probably can't happen by August, but that's really what is needed.

The only way to start rebuilding is to jettison the board. No excuses, no compromise.

The tone and ambition of the club is set by those that run the club and they are detached from reality, incompetent and outdated. We're sliding further and further behind the pack.

Sharpy has no business in a board room other than as a tea boy. DBB's CV would not have got her an interview at any other club looking for a CEO. Widow wankey is a dinosaur who has achieved nothing in all his years as chairman. Its time to go.

Our commercial performance is pathetic, our sporting performance is pathetic, our financial governance is pathetic and surely no one associated with the club can trust anything any of them says. It's not enough anymore to do some nice charity work or help out in the community.

Time for the mutual appreciation society to jog on. Then we can start to rebuild.
Fantastic post but I think we need to do another a strategic review again lol

No really great post and we need them gone but I don’t see them leaving unfortunately
