£73 for an Everton Shirt

I hate to say it but I quite like the model they use for NFL clubs in the U.S.
We needed to buy a nephew a birthday present right around the time of the superbowl and he is a big fan of some big geezer who throws the rugby ball for some team with a crazy name. The real deal was only available through the club and cost $225 with embroidered badges and name etc. (You can buy a knock off direct form china for about $100 too).
they also sell through the NFL a replica Jersey which is different material and the number is printed ($100), and finally they sell a Premier version which is available lots of places where all the artwork is printed ($50).

You can buy the lowest level shirt replica's in the supermarket or at Walmart for $25.
So pretty much everyone, old /young, rich/poor, male/female gets to own at least one of their favorite team shirts... we had a NFL day at work and pretty much everyone showed up in one or another team shirt!

i bet most of the people hardly ever went to a game but the consumption machine keeps churning and the licensing money keeps coming in.

i paid 17 quid each for me and my wifes from a website in america , got them delivered this week . there not fake they are proper authentic shirts but for a lot cheaper than your 50 quid each !! chuffed to bits with them

It's a ludicrous cartel, they did an investigation into it but nothing has changed. These shirts, when you look at them from a none football fan perspective, which admittedly is hard, are nothing more than cheap, polyester garments with some logos on them - how they can charge £40/50 for them is bizarre, especially when they're only "in fashion" for the length of 1 football season. Worst still is what they charge for shirt printing, 1 pound a letter isn't it? That's just obscene, how on earth can that be justified?

On a separate note, anyone know when the club are bringing out the away (orange) goalie shirt? But odd there's sign of it on the website 2 months into the season. It's the one Howard wore against Villa btw

There fake not arsed.
You might not be able to tell but if you paid £17 they will be fake.

well the club badge is embroidered mate so do they just give you a couple of bobbins ?

U sound a bit sore there mate, hope u havent been ripped off,iV looked at a so called real one and my blag one and they are identical, you make the badge sound like its some sort of classy tailorship, everyone knows the shirts cost about 3 quid each to make in s.e Asian sweatshop.

The blag shirts that come from thailand are brilliant, i got a few a couple of seasons ago and next to my mates real one you really cant tell the difference.

I buy one every season to keep in my collection.........I wait for the sales at Xmas time though so I only pay about 20 quid for them... I don't ( very rarely ) wear them much so It's not a big deal for me having to get one at the start of the season.

Nah mate, you said they bring the badges out and I was just wondering how they do that as it isn't just a badge sewn or ironed on. I've not been ripped off for a couple of seasons as I have refused to buy them at full whack. It started when they started bringing out unrequired away strips, and bringing out a 3rd and not wearing the 2nd again despite it not clashing. it's called taking the piss out of us and is known as a 'John Hall Strategy.'

You shouldn't be chuffed that you're hurting the club you say you support.

really , im sorry mate for what the club are charging and compared to how much they cost to produce is a rip off , but to put your mind at ease i bought some training gear from the club shop , thank god i can sleep easily now lol
