Yes, but he’s an accountant by trade. If he claims he didn’t understand what was going on, what sort of accountant does that make him?

There is an allegation in one of the US lawsuits against them that they are a front for cocaine money. Not sure whether to believe it or not.

    The Everton Board Thread

Don’t think they feel any need to justify the money. Board compensation is presumably decided by the board, so there is nobody to justify their compensation to. Certainly nobody so common as the ”fans”. Mosh could rein them in as the majority shareholder, but he doesn‘t appear inclined to do so.

Yes it does. Cutting compensation to the board would be a quick win for FFP and P&S purposes. But I don’t really see that happening, do you?

£2.75bn, not £4.5bn. There was a ’pledge’ to invest a further £1.75bn over the next ten years, including a new stadium, but the pledge was one of those slippery things that is not legally binding.

Getting high wage earner off the books will help a lot. However, it would also help a lot under the old FFP rules, and I do not see how the new rules are more beneficial to Everton than the old rules. If anything, the are worse, because a 70% threshold for both wages and amortisation (etc) is...

    The Everton Board Thread

Not sure why you think this would favour Everton. To be clear, the new FFP rules DO NOT apply to Everton currently because FFP only applies to clubs in European competition. The new rules state that wages applicable to the squad and coaching staff plus player amortisation costs less player...

    2021/22 Richarlison

This. Also, three of his goals were penalties. Neither Spurs nor Chelsea are going to give him penalties, so they will be looking at him as a seven-goal-a-season PL striker. That’s not particularly impressive.

IIRC Spurs have more FFP headroom than any club in the league. But it’s Levy, so the club is never likely to get close to the FFP limits.

Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

You can’t do that. Losses caused by the government are still losses and still have to be included for Profit and Sustainability purposes. The only reason that covid was different was because a special dispensation was proposed by the PL and agreed by all the clubs. UEFA did the same for FFP...

Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

Force majeure is a legal term, not an accounting term. The closest accountancy equivalent to force would either an exception or an extraordinary’s item. Both have to be included for FFP (and profit and sustainability) purposes. The only way around this is to get a temporary rule change, such as...

Everton Summer Transfer Thread - 2022

In short, no. Covid was a special case and was agreed to by the clubs themselves. The only way Everton could get a Ukrwine dispensation is if it could persuade 13 other PL clubs to vote for it. I don’t see that happening.

    Takeover bid by Peter Kenyon

So the club’s plan would be to spend a lot of money to put the club in a worse position (points deduction and potential relegation) which would cost the club even more money, just so that club can spend yet more money (to “buy” promotion) so that the club can be in the same position as it was...

Everton. Once again I hate you.

Sorry, but throwing objects at the players is not just wrong but totally unacceptable under any circumstances. Cash was celebrating in front of the fans so what do you expect? You expect him to get abuse, not a bottle to the head. And are you serious trying to suggest that attempting to win free...

No, you cannot use anything that happens after the transfer date in order to calculate the fee at tribunal, so if he does start for Southampton, it will have no impact on the tribunal fee. Personally, I think the club should have proposed a lower fee than the one Southampton offerred (£1.5m)...
