Match Thread Fulham v Everton; Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

Fulham have conceded 76 goals so far in the Premiership, the worst by far in the league. After 60 minutes we have had one shot on target.

Gary Sprake at Leeds had his own tactic. When he was kicking a clearance with ball in hand, if a forward was crowding him he would kick the ball and made sure his follow through caught the forward somewhere in the ribs. Saw him do this many times, over many games I should add, he only needed...

That picture of Ron Springett reminded me. Back in 1960, Sheffield Wednesday played Peterborough Utd (non-league at the time) of the Midland League, in the FA Cup 4th round. Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield Utd had teams who played in the Yorkshire League. We were due to play Sheffield...

    2018/19 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

There are lots of good things about DCL's play. He's strong, fast, good in the air, holds the ball up well. The only problem is that he's not a natural goal scorer. He misses a lot of open goals that top strikers would put away without thinking about it. Sadly, it is not something you can...

Match Thread Everton v Arsenal - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

Yeah, he holds the ball up well, wins headers, has pace to scare the opposition. He just can't score goals

23 attempts on goal = 1 goal (scored by a defender). We desperately need a striker.

When I was at school in LIverpool (1940's) there was a healthy rivalry between blues and reds but nothing more. At school play-time there would be a football match in progress in the playground. One goal was the air-raid shelter and the other was on the main school building. You joined in by...

First Everton Goal of Your Life

The 1939/40 season was the 65th season of the football league. It was abandoned in Sept 1939 due to the start of the war. The leagues were replaced by 'Regional Competitions'. Appearances in these competitions did not count in players' official records. Because many pro's were in the forces...

First Everton Goal of Your Life

Steve, are you sure about the date August 1941? There was no organised football played during the war years, only friendlies when pro footballers in the forces played for whatever team was closest to where they were based. The leagues started again after the end of the war.

Great character Wally Fielding. Can still see him with shirt cuffs clasped in both hands. Usually seen with a fag in his mouth. Most unfit looking player but my, he was good.

Gillick seemed to score a few at the end of that season.

Do we need a new penalty taker?

Kill two birds with one stone and get Harry Kane in the summer. We need a striker and he's good at penalties too. lol

Huddersfield, lowest scorers in the Premiership, scored 3 against West Ham. Even our goal shy strike force might get a couple.

    Z-cars sirens

There are (very) few of us left who heard the sirens for REAL. Liverpool was the most bombed City next to London and we survived. Lets be proud to blast it out before all our games.

Can't get to Goodison now. Had tears when I watched that. Thanks for posting Tubey.

Get Walcott off and put a defender on. Play for a 0 - 0 draw as we haven't got a goal in us.

Look at the footballs they are carrying. They got wet and when they dried out they were like cannon balls. If the goalie kicked it out of his hands and you headed it on, or about, the centre line, you remembered it 'till about Thursday.
