Took some stones posting that. Not much else of any use at all that I can add.

Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

That is a very poignant video. Fella from the pub committed suicide the other week, nice bloke, and no one, (obvs) had a clue. My half pence on this, (male depression/MH), is from my own experience. I knew that I was struggling in the aftermath of my beloved Nikki going to heaven, she had...

Nice touch mate. Thanks for taking the time to contact us. This forum has a long history of having regular posters from all sorts of clubs, and if our little corner on the internet was some comfort for you, that is terrific. Dont be a stranger mate.

Makes perfect sense mate. One day, I may get over Nikki leaving us. The old cliches, "you fill find someone one day, time is a healer" etc etc, mean zip to me. I dont mope all day, or have a shrine for her, but she is never more than a heart beat away from being remembered. If I have a happy...

Ta. She was the best mate. And my best mate to boot. Miss her dreadfully at times. As many in this thread will understand, there isnt a book about "getting over it". I was astonished that no more than a few weeks after a pal lost his wife in tragic circumstances, he had hitched up with some...

Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

It is just over 18 months since my beloved Nikki left us for a better place, and I still occasionally find my self gently weeping. Just a few tears, no sobbing, and comes from nowhere.

Called The Samaritians earlier (sic) nea. Just felt beat. I am not ill, nor compromised, just wtf. 3 years, and counting of caring kinda does your nut. And no one gives a fig. Except Jane at the Sams. Bless her. I recommend their service to anyone. Take care.

I found that understanding why it happens, puts me in control. Ergo, its part of my life, but "it" does not control me. In the same way that getting over a broken leg means you need to adopt different behaviours. Until it mends. Trouble is, a broken leg is obvious and understandable to you and...

Sorry, I didnt mean the root cause, they are many and varied. I mean the actual thing that happens in the brain that allows them to happen. It seems, to me, from your post about being in the pub just 2 mins from home, that you have grasped the "safe place" thing, so fair play. That is...

Has anyone explained to you why they happen? Cos its a biological/chemical thing, that is totally normal. Once you know why its happening, they become a million % less scary.

Thats exactly the right way to do it. I occasionally, maybe twice a month, pop down the pub. Everyone, pretty much, knew Nikki, and me Dad, so know I have had a rough year or so. But to not look daft by bolting half way through a pint, I have a half. I also put my supper on, and a large log on...

I understand your issue re going out and that. I was/am a little still, having similar issues. My suggestion, if you were max stressed about it is simple. Dont do it. Or, have a safe place you can quietly get back to if its too much. In other words, be in control as best you can be. I decided...

Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Dont be sad @Rich B . I have been (probably) painfully open about my life these last 3 years. This place was a wonderful help. But for the accident of chemicals and the knowledge I learnt when Nik was poorly, I have been spared the mental trauma/issues that too many in this thread are affected...

I deal with it by enjoying the fact that other folk find it triffic. To me, it is something that I will endure, but that said, do take the guilt free chance to treat myself to a few treats. Works for me. Then I have to get over a terrible reminder of stuff on NYE. Regular readers will understand.

Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Its an important point, no matter what it is. To look forward to sommet everyday. When Nikki left us, I probably self medicated by doing just that. A TV programme, a meal, a walk, a new toothbrush. It matters not. Nearly 2 years later, and losing me Dad early this year, I still do it. Maybe we...

They are right. And you know it. I am glad you have a few steps on the support ladder. But a GP nor a therapist can make you leave/dump him. Again, you know that. Maybe, in a few weeks, it will be the best New Year resolution you will ever make. Believe me, friends and family will rejoice, and...

Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

I am pretty sure I suggested this to you last year. For the love of god, for you, and more importantly your daughter, you have to get professional help with this. To me, its clear that you know this "man" is bad news, but you dont seem to have the support to firmly address it. That is by no...
