Discussion & help on depression & mental health related issues

Are you able to find things you can do in your free time that you enjoy? If your job is stressful, you need an outlet to enjoy yourself in your free time otherwise life can get pretty miserable, especially if you live alone. Saying this has someone who has experienced it before a few times. You...

What don't you like about talking therapies mate?

Hi mate, I tend to get physical symptoms when I'm stressed/anxious. What works most for me is just get a physical exam from a Dr if necessary, and then when something serious/physical is ruled out then just try not to worry about it. Usually when I stop worrying about it it goes away soon...

Exercise is ace mate. I think most of us in this thread would vouch for it as a massive help. Re the job yeah maybe giving it time might be ok. Can you speak to your boss about your workload and see if there's anything you can delegate. Sometimes it can be as easy as telling people you're...

Hello mate, I think I might be able to identify with what you're saying. I've had times where the balance of stress and fun in my life has tipped too heavily in favour of stress and then my mood has started to darken too if it goes on for a long enough time. Do you have any outlets in your life...

What you've been through sounds horrendous mate. Probably every one of us here would be feeling absolutely awful if it happened to us. I agree with @COYBL25 though bad times don't last forever and they often bring better times and new opportunities with them.

Have you tried getting an appointment with your doctor to discuss it mate? They can probably advise on how to manage the recovery

I've been a lot more selective recently about when I drink on nights out and often I prefer the nights when I don't drink anything. I feel more present with the people I'm with and more in tune with what's going on around me, and obviously fresher the next day. What I'm doing at the moment is if...

I agree with what others have posted mate, you didn't do anything wrong at all. At some point we all have to start living our lives again. Hope you're continuing to improve.

I was thinking the same. And the warnings they did give you @Lobster Johnson don't seem very well grounded

Regarding what you posted about all the stuff you do in your job, it sounds like you've gained a wide range of experience there. Could it be that you're selling yourself short a little bit?

I saw magic medicine and thought it was very interesting. I’d also read a bit about that subject before. Future could be brighter hopefully

Probably because you’re depressed mate? All the things you’ve described on here (negative thoughts, crying, fear of crowds etc) are pretty typical symptoms of depression. The good thing about that is that they can be dealt with and things can get better.

I agree @Brendan Janus you're not alone in the things that you're going through right now and things will get better. All the best mate and keep posting.

I find this happens to me sometimes and it’s anxiety related for me. But it can be other issues so probably wise to discuss with a doctor if you’re worried

Can totally identify mate. I become a proper scatter brain when I'm highly stressed, paying bills late, accidentally missing appointments, turning up late for stuff, forgetting to check things before I leave the house, even sometimes unable to organise myself to shave regularly lol Is it tied...

I'm not really the best at giving advice, but 28 is no age at all mate. It's natural that you feel that there's more you could've done, but still this is a really young age where you can still do whatever you want. Re career, you're probably going to be working another 40 years and you're still...

I had a couple of sessions with it about 15 years ago when going through a period of anxiety and found it really useful. But was unfortunately only a couple of sessions. It was supposed to be 6 but then I moved away and had to stop it.

Good luck with it mate, sounds boss. You never know it might not be useful right now, but further down the line it might come in handy ;)
