Match Thread Aston Villa v Everton - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

Villa fans seem confident that they’re back? I also thought Saturday as being the end of this South American international fiasco but we’ll find out on Saturday I guess

Match Thread Aston Villa v Everton - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

I was actually really impressed with Villa against Chelsea, they lost 3-0 but that was due to Lukaku’s class. Villa pressed really aggressively and should have scored if not for an unbelievable performance by Thiago Silva. This will be a big test for us but we’re more than capable of winning...

    2021/22 James Rodriguez

Perhaps this will be re-evaluated in January when we have another window to potentially move him and bring in an AMN for example. But for now, I think we’re both ‘stuck’ with each other through the winter and when he applies himself, will be useful to unlock stubborn defences.

    2021/22 James Rodriguez

We cannot afford to let him go to Turkey, and I’m not talking financials. With Siggurdson still awol and no sign of him returning any time soon, we do need some form of creative midfielder. He’s the best in the squad anyway at this so letting him go at this stage is foolish. I get that there’s...

    Everton Summer transfers 2021

I’m sure Real were at one point after VDB for like 50mil before he went to United. There must be a player in there for these transfers to happen or be considered but I can’t see what type of player he is. We are not the place he’d be given a run of 10 games in the starting XI. He’d be the...

    2021/22 Demarai Gray

Fair play to him being up for Player of the Month. Antonio definitely deserves it but good to see his redemption arc start off positively and be recognised

    2021/22 Fabian Delph

I actually think he may be.

    Everton Summer transfers 2021

Playing together, disastrous, but covering for one, acceptable. (Gomes/Allan, Davies/Doucoure etc). Gbamin showed that he is far off the pace which is understandable but it may be some time still before he can truly come in and cover as needed. Hopefully he does though. Further forward, Gomes...

    Everton Summer transfers 2021

The full backs are the killer for me. With James, you do have a player capable of creating/scoring. Gomes is more effective further up. They can at least be last resort cover that’s not ‘disastrous’. Tom was good covering Allan last year. With the fullbacks…we kinda have nothing barring...

    Transfer Rumour Maitland-Niles

Would have liked to see this one done. Will be very interesting to see if Arsenal actually play him now - I suspect we’ll be back in January if not

    Everton Summer transfers 2021

What this means is that ‘deadwood’ players or players from last season who underperformed or weren’t used will have to step up/Benitez will have to nurture them. Gomes, Davies (was good last season as Allan cover), Delph, Iwobi (who is already showing signs), Gbamin - all have a part to play to...
