That’s a bit of a stretch. Outplayed today is all.

    Summer 2020 transfer window

I think it is down to how they are used and their role in the squad. A wise head in the dressing room and training ground can be of value - adds leadership. But you don't want to have to rely on them three times a week in a match situation.

Match Thread Everton v Newcastle United - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

The 11 players on the pitch were culpable. The idea that the manager could have conspired to lose two points in two minutes through tactical errors is fanciful. Simplistic even.

Match Thread Everton v Newcastle United - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

It's a very painful way to drop points, but in the cold light of day I don't think huge conclusions need to be drawn about the final two minutes. Certainly didn't tell us anything new nor did it suggest any tactical error from the manager. Just one of those...hard lines, etc.

    2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

The one thing this guy needs is time. Not a couple of windows. He needs years of dedication to construct a proper and coherent squad build. Fans need to maintain faith when it starts to wobble as that will inevitably happen. If Ancelotti is not Everton manager come Summer 2021 then the trouble...

Match Thread Liverpool v Everton - Preview, Match Report and MotM Poll

In truth, much of what you're suggesting is a coaching issue. The opposition looked a well-coached side with a clear plan across the 90. The second half was testament to this. What's also true is that this set of footballers are now onto a third manager this season; it's little wonder that a...

What would going on social media achieve apart from inviting the vitriol of angry fans? It's hardly a platform for reasoned discussion and debate.

    2019/20 Carlo Ancelotti

Fair enough but that’s not a guarantee that it’ll work in a different football culture.

    Carlo Ancelotti

The issue for Ancelotti is not to get the chequebook and buy a new cohort of players, it's to develop a coherent playing style that may require the addition of a couple of names and the sale of a couple. Some squad recycling may be in order rather than full renewal. The key here is that being...

    Carlo Ancelotti

Unlikely for three reasons: 1. Ancelotti will command a huge fee so big money unlikely to be available 2. Who is signing for Everton in January who will improve Everton? Where are these players coming from and why are clubs selling them? 3. FFP

    Carlo Ancelotti

I get this, but it was one single game that went very well. Evertonians want to win games regularly - the style is a secondary consideration although I agree it is pertinent. There are other ways of winning football matches, which Martinez showed in 13/14 with 70+ points by the end of the...

    Carlo Ancelotti

Ancelotti may not build sides from weakness nor may he stick around for long. However, he may build something in the short-term that leads to swift success on a level not seen in 25 years or more. My point is that 'project managers' are a rare breed - most clubs exist hand-to-mouth to achieve...
