Maupay replaces the goals lost from richarlison. Even with those goals we stayed up by a cats willy hair last season. We needed someone to replace the goals we lost from Dominic Calvert-Lewin being injured for the bulk of the season. The same Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has missed our first 6 games this season. He has to get fit and stay fit. Unless Gordon and Gray can score 10-15 each this season in the league, we just don't have enough goals in the side. Alternative is we have to be as tight as a nuns at the back but let's face it, we have conceded in all 5 league games so far this season and have had a massive amount of luck in not getting pasted in a couple, so that's not looking too great.
Calvert can replace the goals we lost from him being injured last season.

I get it we could have done with another forward option but us conceding so many last season and scoring so few was in a big part down to our horrendous midfield, we had the only midfield that not only couldn’t stop attacks against us but offered absolutely nothing in attacking terms. Our new midfield will give us far better option in both. Would of course been far better with another forward but we’ll just have to improve that in January.

What people are forgetting is that as of now, it's literally going to be impossible to bypass our midfield. And if a miracle occurs whereby the midfield is bylassed, the leadership qualities of Coady and Tarkowski will secure us 25 clean sheets this season.

How we can bring in Tarkowski and Coady for no transfer fee, but completely neglect forward areas is beyond me.

Hope Calvert-Lewin can stay fit and hope we can stay out the bottom 3 come January and hope the club get their finger out and bring in some support.

Lampards right, there's a void in attacking areas. Replacing a player who directly contributed over a third of our goals last season in Richarlison with Maupay and McNeil doesn't bode well.
The DOF has failed the manager.

We’ve done an unbelievably good job in the last two windows addressing our defence and midfield in my opinion, really really happy with how we look there not just first eleven but actual depth!

Up top is a big concern though as many have said.

The old adage is you build a team from the back though and yeah we’ll certainly be hard to beat now.

Last season we conceded 66 goals .
Scored 43. If we score similar this season which we probably will but concede around 15 less which is possible with the signings made from midfield back then we should get at least 8/10 points more..not ideal but be fine
Will we score similar though a lot rests on DCL's fitness and Maupay

Yeah, overall it’s been a good window, probably a very good one. But ending it a forward short, and, even if there’s no money for one, with one domestic loan unused, that just feels like a big oversight. It doesn’t feel like it could’ve been that hard to make it a great window.
Who is going to loan out an attacking player with a goal history in this league. Please identify the attacking players you think we could have got on loan? Based on recent activity maybe Dan James who just doesn’t score?

Whichever way you look at it we now need our first choice front 3 to remain fit for the vast majority of the season. A front 3 that includes DCL who broke down last season and Gordon who is into his first proper season as a starter. It's a huge risk.
