Cliff Marshall

Black footballers of that generation had to put up with terrible abuse.

Looking back on the 1970's and 1980's it was grim on the terraces.

Hooliganism, the NF trying to poison young minds, and fans massed behind fences.

Considering what players like Cliff had to put up with, seems moaning about VAR is petty in comparison.

Sad news. I remember travelling to work in a van for my first job around about ‘71 and there was always a daily paper where I read the Everton bit on the way in . One day there was a large article on him and a great deal of excitement being generated about his potential as hed recently signed for us. RIP.

....he played for Liverpool Schoolboys the year before me so our paths crossed a bit. A few old teammates of mine are on that Everton team photo on the previous page & I recall Cliff Marshall went to Sefton Park school on Smithdown Road.

Talented footballer who will be part of Everton’s history but so sad to hear of his passing.
