The "world's top doctors and scientists" (and the consensus is not as strong as you say) are offering an opinion that is not based on test data. Usually a vaccine has to go through stringent testing before deployment. In this case, that has not occurred.
It has occurred. In fact it has been far more stringent than the vast majority of testing for medicines you routinely take and don't even consider to question.

The only difference with these covid vaccines is that the bureaucracy that tends to lengthen the process from inception to public rollout has been accelerated due to the fact we needed it ASAP.

Simple as that.

The vaccine is based on the existing flu vaccine isn't it? Which I would imagine has been thoroughly tested. I would think they have a reasonable idea of what is in the vaccine, how it works and potential side effects.

after reading what fabian delph had to say about covid and the human immune system the guy should be kicked out of everton.
is he some sort of idiot this covid has killed millions worldwide and hes against getting injected.Well mate keep your stupid ideas to yourself and stop putting peoples lives in danger

Im sceptical of that tbh - in the trials they never knew/picked up on the severe blood clots in the AZ in which people have died in the general population - same as Myocarditis & Pericarditis (heart inflammation) in the Pfizer + Moderna Vaccines.

Obviously people need to be vaccinated ASAP due to the dire situation but I dont like the attitude at present of "dont ask questions just get jabbed" you can get jabbed whilst also being open minded as to why some have genuine concerns/questions.

"Most viral infections do not have vaccines because the vaccine technology failed in early-stage clinical trials. Because many vaccines cause side effects, such as pain at the injection site, headaches, and influenza symptoms, safety testing requires years of observation in thousands of clinical trial participants. Similarly, sufficient time – a year or multiple years – is usually needed to be certain a vaccine has durable efficacy while the virus remains pandemic. Despite extensive previous research attempts to produce safe, effective vaccines against coronaviruses, such as SARS and MERS, all vaccine candidates for coronavirus infections have failed during clinical research, and no vaccine existed to prevent any coronavirus infection. To prepare for manufacturing and distribution, Operation Warp Speed expended resources and financing before the safety and efficacy results of vaccine candidates were known.

"In the case of Operation Warp Speed, effective vaccines made by BioNTech in Germany and Pfizer and Moderna were given an emergency use authorization by the FDA in December 2020, established an exceptionally fast development and approval timeline for vaccines granted emergency marketing. Pfizer joined the Warp Speed program in July 2020, and signed a $1.95 billion contract to be paid out when the vaccine would be FDA approved, and included an initial order of 100 million vaccines. In December 2020, the Trump admin ordered additional 200 million vaccines from Pfizer."

It still remains to be seen if these vaccines are safe in the long run, and it also remains to be seen if they are actually effective. The fact there are breakthrough cases of the Delta variant suggest they are not the magic bullet they were presented as. One of the reasons coronavirus vaccines have not worked in the past is the viruses are so quick to mutate and develop into different strains. One of the reasons I opted for a JNJ is it is supposedly more likely to protect against more serious effects, despite being less effective at actually preventing infection in the first place.

That's not uncommon. It's like the cancer risk in the compound found in ranitidine - 30 years on the market, wasn't picked up in trials or general population, they still aren't sure it is a real risk, but they've acted regardless and pulled it.

Indeed, the fact the insanely rare side effect (if it even is one, which is still not an indisputable fact even now, especially with recent studies saying the second jab doesn't increase the risk at all) was picked up should actually increase confidence in the vaccines' safety.

Is the AZ/any other vaccine definitely safe? No, just like no medicine whatsoever is definitely safe (see aspirin and Reye's Syndrome for details). But I'm very confident all that could be done to be sure it almost certainly is as safe as it can be has indeed been done. They can't afford to get this thing wrong, and all the evidence suggests strongly they haven't.

So it's not a case of "don't ask questions" - it's a case of "don't assume you know better because you saw a Christian fundamentalist raging about fetuses in vaccines on Facebook" and so on, which is a reasonable request.

Agreed however you also have those on the polar opposite who'll scream blue in the face that the vaccines are "100% safe" because a crap ton of money was spent on the development and if you disagree you must be anti vax.

Like Covid itself there is still probably a lot about them we still dont know about although people should still be getting vaccinated as its the lesser of two evils compared to the risk of Covid.

It's not "don't ask questions" it's "don't question medical science for one specific medication because it's edgy and happily subscribe to the expertise of medical science for everything else".

At least be consistent.

Copy and paste straight from loony.com.

Another for the ignore list.

I don't follow Delph, don't rate or like him as a player, want him to leave, but also don't hate him...
there's no chance he's being sarcastic right? Is he trying to call out the conspiracy theorists who say that the vaccine is bad blah blah blah mind control blah blah Bill Gates. and you need it because our immune system is not adequate? Don't follow other stuff Delph says so no idea.

I wonder why his muscles and knees aren't as good as his immune system.
