There's select group of toffees that have gone through primary school and secondary and have not had to the opportunity to see us win at Anfeild. I'm so sorry.

There's a group of kids that have gone through primary and deep into secondary to not experience a derby win in any circumstances.... not any longer.

Tell us your kids stories.

My 3yo eldest son (both sons sitting on my knees watching our first Derby ever together). Wife is a (reasonable) Koppite.

DCL gets tripped... proud dad moment follows...

eldest: “mom, why did the naughty red man kick over the nice blue man?”
Wife (instinctively): “he didn’t”
Eldest: “yes he did mom. Now he should go to the naughty corner”
Wife (not appreciating she’s arguing w a 3 year old): “no he shouldn’t”
Eldest: “yes he should”
(Repeats like a panto)

The youngest (1yo) is looking at his big bro w a look of awe and laughing. Me, with tears rolling down my cheeks laughing knowing I’ve got 2 little Blues, ‘born, not manufactured’.

My oldest gets it, proper blue, the other two are on and off but when we topped the table earlier on they were interested. I dont blame them.

Winning a derby is great, but we need to win trophies. Then the kids will be alright.

Last night I was trying to work out if my youngest had ever seen us lose a Derby. Unfortunately Silva's last match and the fa cup monstrosity means he has.

Either way, I full kitted both of them on Saturday which means they'll be wearing the same for every derby going forward.

...I’m old but other than a few golden periods, we’ve always seemed to struggle against them. I know it’s particularly tough for todays youngsters, but it’s never been particularly easy. We should all take a step back and be grateful we are us and not them.

What would be terrific is for recent generations to see us win something. Its something our younger fan base richly deserve. We’re still in the FA Cup, so you never know.

My 2 eldest sons have left home and covid has put paid to visits. My other son lives with his girlfriend since covid as he wouldn't be able to have had his trouser joy if he stayed with us. My daughter hates football. So it was me and me wife screaming.... Had tons of screaming wassap gifs from the sporn tho... Which was nice. I know it means a lot to my sons, They also work with reds and this time... they get to #smirkatwork

We’ve only won at Anfield six times since the Second World War.

That’s less than once a decade.

Amongst my sons and nephews (aged 18 to 28) I have never seen such delight following a match as last weekend. All night drinking, raucous Zoom calls, watching and re-watching the match, then the highlights, then the analysis and discussion programmes; it's been incredible. My youngest, 19 next July, came in yesterday and talked for over an hour with me about the derby. (I was supposed to be working!)

I'm hopeful Professor Ancelotti will ensure a fired-up, determined and aggressive display against Southampton on Monday and, whop knows, maybe something special to upset City and set us on the march to Wembley... COYB!!!
