It's easy to forget that this is a new experience for Ancelotti too. He'll be learning also. Every club he's been successful at, he's arrived with a squad capable already of competing at the highest level. Working with the best players, he's proven himself to be a master and one of the greatest managers in the game.

He needs time, deserves time and will get time. But the club have shown ambition in bringing him in and backing him with James, Doucoure and Allan, so he must also show signs that the team is moving in the right direction soon.

The idea of him being sacked this season, barring a full blown relegation battle, is ludicrous.

Yes he can obviously do better, but this squad would let down any manager. They lack commitment and quality.
I agree, there is no way anyone should be talking about sacking. He is a great manager and deserves time. The team is still only a few positions away from where it needs to be at the end of the season.

But to your second comment, isn't it a managers job to motivate, unite a squad, ensure they are committed and organised, at least. It's fair to criticize.

Tbh if we're not more than 5-6 points off top6 by January transfer window, it's going to be just fine.

Hopefully brands can unload Glyfi &co. somewhere, if need be on a discount price. Just get rid of them and bring someone who actually wants to play football.

The digital hatchets are out for Carlo already, presumably because after 1 year or so, he appears to be failing to convert a squad of 2nd rate players into top players. It will not be long before names of alternative managers will be offered. And so the merry go round continues. It will be interesting to see what happens when crowds are allowed back, maybe next season. Hopefully he will have binned a few more crabs by then, but the pressure will be greater.

We have improved under Ancelotti, albeit not as quickly as I'd have liked. We need to get back in form as quickly as possible because the current run is not good enough, but we are capable. And we have two home cup games to come in the next 5 weeks, which we need to target.
The idea of a man on £11m p/a being sacked for not meeting expectations is ludicrous?

We sacked Sam Allardyce for finishing 8th and yet Ancelotti will get a free ride because of things he achieved at other clubs?

He either wins us a cup or gets European football or he can leave.

Our competition for 7th place is Leicester, Aston Villa, Wolves, Southampton and West Ham. If he can’t best the likes of Moyes and Smith then why the hell is he here?

We showed patience with Moyes for over a decade and had nothing to show for it. We gave Martinez a fair period to achieve and he failed. We paid Koeman a kings ransom and had nothing. We had the ignominy of paying Sam Allardyce an obscene wage. We took Silva on - and got had off.

I'll give a manager as successful and intelligent as Carlo Ancellotti as long as he needs to bring us some silver.

Coming up: A very winnable home tie in the league cup against Manchester United, and Rotheram in the FA cup... It's all possible this season.

Stop whining.

He hasn’t dragged us anywhere. We finished 12th last year, went out of the FA Cup at the first time of asking to a bunch of kids and we now find ourselves midtable again on the second worst run of form in the league.

He wasn’t here for half of last season? So how can that 12th place be held against him? It also wasn’t his squad was it. The FA cup was a disappointment yes, but equally he can’t finish chances for the players. We could have been 4 up in the first half but Richarlison hit most of them straight at the keeper. Then we concede a worldie from their only chance of the game. It was embarrassing yeah but hardly Ancelotti’s fault.

We can’t just focus on the negatives. We’ve had some brilliant form followed by poor form throughout Ancelotti’s time in charge. It can’t be that the great form is disregarded but the bad form honed in on. Overall the stats are there, he’s improved league form so far by a massive amount. If he just sustains the current level he’s had us at since he’s been here we finish this season on close to 60 points and potentially back in Europe. That is progress. Obviously if he doesn’t and we regress then you can moan away having been proven right.

The guy who prevented it from being embarrassing against Leeds ? I'm with you on wanting to replace him but right now I'm not sure that he 8a the most immediate problem.
Picklfords best game since Spurs no doubts he stopped it being 4 or 6 against us ......but he is a shot stopper of the highest standard, his other aspects to goalkeeping are less than desirable .......

Fat Sam wasn’t here for a full season but got the team up to 8th in the table by the end of it. Did you want him sacked?

Ancelotti is the manager. What happens on the pitch IS his fault. The FA Cup Derby is our most embarrassing defeat in the past 10 years or so.

Ancelotti was provided a solid base for the initial good form due to Duncan Ferguson’s stint as interim.

What Ancelotti has served up since that Chelsea 4-0 hammering before lockdown is nowhere near good enough.

He’s got a big challenge on his hands if in his words he feels we can challenge for a Champions League position this season (quoted from Richarlison).

Offensively we have been sound, we’ve missed a lot of chances but we are still creating which is great but the defence has been a massive problem all season and it just seems to get worse with each game. It’s like there’s little cohesion or plan in place when it comes to our central midfield and defence, all of them standing around ball watching waiting for the other man to do something, it’s a serious problem that needs fixing.

Players aren't good enough, can't pass under pressure and the game has gone that way, high pressure press, we need more composed footballers all over really.

Allan, Digne, James, Richarlison are the only ones who don't give the ball away sloppily very often the rest of them can be shocking and if a few of them are at it in the same game we get over run because we keep giving the ball back.

I suppose it comes down to bravery as well, the fans used to get the blame for them crapping themselves which has been shown to be an utter myth now. Just earn too much money and don't give a damn if they win trophies or not.

“I think we are in the right direction. It is true that we were not able to repeat the start of the season,” he said.

“We have had some difficulties, we lost some players but that doesn’t mean that we are not in the right direction.

“We are in the right direction, but what we are doing in this moment is not enough and every one of us has to put in a little bit more in terms of character, personality, spirit and sacrifice to come back and have more consistency in results.”

That's what he said following the Leeds game. Still seems more confident than most..

First full season so I don't think a sacking is even a consideration, unless we plummet to like 17th. 2 consecutive full seasons of underachievement would be an entirely different scenario, but we are a long long way away from that situation, so we shouldn't even be having the conversation.

The squad still is not good enough to get us where we need to be and I will not give the players a pass. They are responsible for our awful underachievement since Martinez first season.

It all comes back to the question of who on earth can we attract who is better than Ancelotti. I'm not aware of anyone, so I'm happy for him to be our manager for as long as he wants to be. If Ancelotti can't turn us around, then I'm not sure anyone can. We have so many problems that are so much deeper than managers. We sack and continue to underachieve, so I'll continue to back the manager and lay the blame at the feet of our inept and substandard sqaud.

Has to be digital, no fans allowed in, praise, or dissatisfaction ....... Comes from digital atm........
If the Leeds game would have had our fans there ......imo Carlo would have got the message in a far bigger way ........
He has to stop playing square legs in round holes, and the results will come for him .......
