Old Everton Pictures

They played nice football the gates were high for a youth team in those days even - one game there was a bus strike 3/4 through the game. I got in late my mother was not happy we had to walk miles to get a Corporation bus as Crossville had walked out halfway through the game in a lightning strike dispute - maybe she stopped me being taken to the final with school etc - still doh -

...don’t remember being at the final, but I was probably there. I lived off Everton Road, it was a bit of a hike but I always walked to and from matches because the buses were so full.

QUERY 2 Ball v Stoke.jpg
I think this may be Ball's second goal against Stoke on 4.5.68 ( I have a photo of his first and am fairly certain it is not that and it is certainly not from the game mentioned in the internet description.) Ball, Royle and Whittle are all in this photo and all three played in the 1968 fixture. I do not want to add this photo into my collection without some sort of confirmation. Thanks folks.

I had to catch 2 buses to get to the ground from Huyton - it was only in the late 1960s they put a special football bus on .... then when my older brother got a car the world was our oyster went to many away games -

The 4th May 1967/68 indeed we won 3-0 with Bally scoring two and big Joe one it has to be this game as the main stand was not being built - that's the only game in my EFC bible that Bally grabbed 2 in that era of no new stand .....hope that helps -

Joey, I think your book may have an incorrect caption (sorry) unless this is part of the build up to the goal. Harris scored with a shot (Unless the Daily Post is wrong!. ) I have also attached a PDF of the match report from the football echo if it will open.

Before confirming if it is Ball's first or second goal you may wish to consider the fact it is at the Park End which would imply we were kicking that way first half which was less common, though not impossible. His first was on 27 mins according to Everton results. Might the clock in the background give a clue on the original photo? It is a bit blurry on the image I am looking at. His second goal was on 89 mins.
Next home game was Fulham. That programme might have photos to confirm.
Or ask @Dario Terracotta !!!!!!
