Like any Evertonian is really going to be bothered about anything that this man says.

It's funny Talk Sport; they love going on about fallen clubs getting back to 'where they belong' when they're down in the Championship, absolutely miles away from doing anything of note. For example, speaking about Leeds possibly getting promoted, Stuart Pearce said yesterday, 'It wasn't too long ago that they were playing in a Champions League semi-final.'

Aside from the fact that it was actually ages ago, if Leeds were to soon find themselves mid-table in the Premier League, would the same pundits agree that they should replace their manager with someone who could get them back to 'where they belong,' or would they be told to remember how it wasn't too long ago that they were playing in League One?

Sometimes, I think that with Everton and the media, it's simply a case of 'How can I miss you if you never go away?' If the club was relegated, the narrative would soon shift to the scandal of the fourth most successful club in the country dropping out of the top division.
