I like him a lot but no, never go back.

If our greatest ever manager couldn't return with any success I don't see anyone else doing it.

Besides some fans have his card marked already no matter what.

There are so many managers out there.

Only if you let Moyes pre-drill the team fitness and defending wise for 3yrs beforehand
Then,
Like before, he'd last until boxing day when it would've all worn off...and that's without adding in a Lukaku.
So
For that reason - I'm out.

Moyes was not that good defensively (many, many humpings by rubbish sides) and our fitness was dire until around new year most seasons hence all our slow starts to the season.

Its funny how things change over time.

No mate. Why on earth would I want to see a manager installed who gets us 21 wins out of 38 games and smashes our best ever PL performance with a mammoth 72 points while playing attractive football?

Because he had the worst home record for a season in the entire 140 years of our existence? Because he football wasn’t actually attractive? Because he was signing players like niasse, mgeady , alcaraz, kone, Galloway , Robles ? Because he threw away 2-3 goal leads on the last 10 mins on a regular basis? Because the longer he was with us the worse we became? Because our players wernt fit enough to last 90mins? Because he didn’t believe in corners , even attacking ones? Because he was out of touch with reality? Because he actually found “positives” after a 9-1 thrashing by spurs? Because he talked out of his hoop after every game? Because he has ruined the word “ phenomenal “ forever?

Dunno mate... thinking about it ... yeah , we should get him back

In all seriousness I dont want him back. Not suited to the thud and blunder football craved for by millenials.

He's an Everton manager for another era, when people held fast to, and took seriously, Evertonian's need to be the School of Science.

Delusional Dave , that actually sounds like something bobby would say. Totally out of touch with reality .

Top 10 FIFA world best manager. Belgium's greatest ever manager.

Not good enough for Everton.

Lol.

He came, he saw, he conquered, he got stabbed in the back, he left.

Pretty much covers it.

Belgium’s greatest ever manager? May have something to do with the fact they have their best ever players lol.

The thing with Moyes: he allowed on occasion the players to cut loose and play and then stuck with it...until a reversal and then the ultra conservatism kicked in and throttled the life out of expansionist football. That genie was let out the bottle by Roberto. It worked a treat initially as players were encouraged to keep possession and play it to feet. The first sign of a slump though and those same players were looking for their Moyes security blanket again...which was denied them by Martinez who insisted on playing through the slump.

The rest is history.

He insisted on Wigan playing like that too mate and took them down. He was asking bramble and Caldwell to play like bekenbaur ( spelling) any decent manager would realise you can’t ask things of players that they can’t do. He played to players weaknesses. Remember “ individual mistakes” being common place here and at Wigan , people saying a manager can’t account for such errors . Thing is , you can, you can at least minimise them by not asking players that are crap on the ball to play like that on the edge of their own area. You may have a system and style you prefer but if the players can’t play it you must find one they can and slowly change your squad and style as the players arrive and leave. His signings after his first season were all players that belong at relaxation fodder prem teams.... just like he does

EVERYWHERE he's been he's had success:

Swansea - a nowhere club put within touching distance of the top flight again

Wigan - a trophy...with WIGAN!!!

Everton - highest number of wins and points in one PL season

Belgium - their best ever manager who took them to a SF of the WC where they were beaten by an inferior team who then won it

The inconvenient truth.

Watch a replay of Everton 2 West Ham 3 from 2016 Dave, that one match summed up Martinez's Everton. At times scintillating football, aligned with kamikaze defending you wouldn't expect from a school Under-12 team.

Sadly that ain't the only example either.
