In fairness i dont think they hated him. Maybe didnt do as well as they wanted but i think they still respected him. I just think he is a top manager. Clubs that we named are some of the best in the world. If he is good enough for them well. Thats why id have had him anyday above martinez who went down with wigan, koeman who didnt do much with aouthampton and silva who went down with hull . Wigan , southampton and hull. Had to repeat those to myself lol. Rafael had liverpool, chelsea, real madrid, inter

He would get us 8th, but he would not do any of the following things:

A) Win us a trophy
B) Break us into the top 6
C) Play entertaining football

Hes on 12m a year in China, with 2 years left.

Good luck paying 24m compo plus a 4 year contract for 48m.

72m to appoint a manager who relegated Newcastle.

LOL

He's got 15 months left. His contract was for 18 months.

From what I understand the 12m is for the 18 months, so 8m per year. He was on 6m at Newcastle.

He hardly relegated Newcastle, he only had 9 matches to save them and they only lost twice in those matches. Steve McClaren relegated them.

Some of you would wipe your backside with the Everton crest just to get him in. So desperate for any success that all morals are flushed down the toilet.

morals went out the window years ago mate. we have a bookies on our shirt & previously a beer, We are banned from signing kids from tapping up, we got a dinosaur in to 'keep us safe'. We played the nice family club card for decades now for what? will happily get Benitez in to try & become a winning FOOTBALL club again. The LFC shouts mean nothing to me, Sheedy, Watson, Morrissey, Ablett etc all come over & guess what..... won pots.

There are all kinds of problems regarding the appt of Rafael. Yes he is a good manager without any doubt. Unfortunately he has the stain of them lot on him. His unfortunate comments back then did not help either. We would probably be in for ridicule no doubt with his appt, sloppy seconds or something along those lines.

If you look at it from another angle you could argue he may have a point to prove. He may stare at envy at what Klopp is achieving and think to himself, I want some of this...

He did very well at Valencia.

At Liverpool he had Carragher, Gerrard + brought in Mascherano, Torres and Alonso but the other signings were mostly awful.

Was awful at Inter, ok short term at Chelsea not good at Napoli or Madrid and ok at Newcastle.

I dont see the fuss...i think hes massively overrated based on Valencia and Liverpool and if were going for experience + a big name theres others out there.

Just because his family lives in the city how does this make him a more attractive proposition than a real top manager...i mean give him Klopps squad a couple of years ago and i cant see Benitez doing as well.

We need to either stick with Silva allowing him to develop over time or get someone who can go toe to toe with the very best.

Carragher was on the verge of being sold when Rafael got there, he was tried as a right back, midfielder and many other positions. Rafael moved him in the middle and he became one of the best centre backs in the league. Gerrard was utilised as a deep holding midfielder and a right midfielder until Rafael got there and turned him in to the best attacking midfielder in the league.

His signings at Liverpool include Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Sissoko, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Zenden, Crouch, Bellamy, Kuyt, Aurelio, Mascherano, Torres, Benayoun, Lucas, Meireles. He also transformed their academy and brought in Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Flanagan, Ayala, Coady, Spearing. Was partly responsible for bringing in Suarez and Coutinho too.

His time at Inter was a failure, but he asked for investment in order to overhaul the ageing squad, which was denied and look at them now. What have they achieved since?

He was a success at Chelsea, no matter how you look at it. Took them from 7th to 3rd. Won the Europa League. Turned David Luiz and Mata in to 50m players. Was actually going to take over in the Summer before, but the champions league win brought Di Matteo some more time. Rafael left on good terms with Roman and the players.

His time at Napoli was a huge success. Won the League Cup, haven't won it since. Won their charity shield for the first time in 14 years, haven't won it since. Got to the semi finals of the Europa league. Haven't got as far in Europe since. Finished 3rd and 5th in the league, which is about average for them. The Owner wanted him to stay and offered him a 3 year deal, but Rafael was homesick.

Signed Mertens, Callejon, Albiol, Higuain, De Guzman, Gabbiadini, Jorginho, Zapata, Reina, Koulibali, Ghoulam at Napoli. A team which set them up for years.

His time at Madrid was average. He wasn't allowed to sign any players apart from Casemeiro due to the amount spent the previous few years. He wanted to get rid of players, but wasn't allowed. Got told which players he had to play and had interference in all his operations. Unbeaten in the Champions League, 3rd in the league with a game in hand when he left.

His time at Newcastle can't be considered less than a success, he's worshiped up there.

Silva has us in the bottom 3, 8 games 7 points. What time can he be allowed when you look at the teams we have been beaten, by is there hope? Well there is always hop but we are in an awful no two ways about it awful position. To say he is not worried is mind boggiling.

If he is sacked, who ever comes in has a tough job.

Can you think of a team outside last years top 6 who would not have major problems with both of their centre midfielders injured?

The list of players he brought in at Liverpool is a whose who of dross (90% of it)...

The fact Inter were nowhere near the quality as under Mourinho and the fans hated him surely adds to the point of him being the calalyst of failure there?

The Napoli narrative doesnt make sense to me, youre saying he was homesick and delivered 2 meaningless trophies with 2 (at best) average seasons....hes in China now.

Madrid they hated his type of football and he was booted pretty quickly...

The question should really be, is he going to go toe to toe with someone like Klopp, or Pep or even one of the other top managers who could come to the premier league e.g Allegri and Mourinho...or perhaps is he comparable to a coach who Juve, Barca, Bayern, Real would go for?

If we change Silva then we need to go for someone whose going to have the highest chance of getting us up as close to the top as possible over a 3 year period.

For me, its a no.

How the hell was he responsible for bringing in players 2 and 4 years after he was sacked???????
