Palace, at this time, somewhat prematurely, nicknamed "The Team of the 80's" started their first season in the top flight for 6 seasons by going 9 games unbeaten, briefly topping the table in September. A 4-1 defeat at Southampton ended the run in the previous game and this visit to Goodison also ended in a defeat. 3-1 with Palace scoring through Mike Flannagan.
We finished 13th that season and after Very Terribles slunk off to QPR with half the team during the early part of the following season we finished 22nd and were relegated.
