VAR

Won’t be using the monitor on the side of the pitch. That means that it’s solely down to the bloke sat behind the computer screen who of course will not support United or Liverpool.
There are pitchside video screens for the ref. The Liverpool and Man U situation is that they don't have big screens for fans to see what is being checked and what the outcome is. So it doesn't actually have an impact of the administering of VAR.

Everyone says that but in other leagues where it’s already been introduced it’s not the case.
The mental new handball rule will probably be the difference this season though. Will be interesting to see the approach they take to it.

Could be like in the 2018 World Cup when there were loads of penalties for holding at corners. Then after the World Cup they seem to have completely relaxed their approach to that.

It’s the beginning of the end (if 1992 wasn’t ) - every time a team scores you’ll have to wait to see if VAR is used before you celebrate.

And therein is why it will ruin the spontaneity and the emotions unique to football and ultimately ruin it for the matchgoing supporter.

The latest statement from the prem CEO suggests they won’t use the pitchside screen. So unless the refs are going to look at the big screens (which won’t be at all grounds) they’ll be dependent on the voice in their ear telling them what the correct decision is.

it should be done like Cricket and Rugby - where the third official talks it through with the crowd and players understanding why his decision is reached......
as it is atm everyone is clueless to what is going on it's very poor...... every ground should have a large screen and it should be talked through on the slow motion on there like cricket.......

We are going to see loads of pens and VAR starting to ref the game as it goes from 'clear and obvious errors' to checking everything..We could see up to ten minutes added on time on certain games too.

From BBC article with quotes from Prem CEO
Masters said Premier League referees would use the pitchside video monitors to re-watch decisions more sparingly.

"I think the only difference you might see is the referees using the referee review area a bit more sparingly and relying more on the VAR for the more subjective decisions."

He is saying he hopes they will use pitchside screen more sparingly to stop games being too stop start. But they will have pitchside screens and they will be used when necessary.

And of course, instead of having a level playing field and making the two teams who have had by far the most advantage from officials in the league comply by the same rules....

.... Sorry, had to stop there

They are complying by the rules. As far as the ref and the VAR team are concerned things will operate in exactly the same way at Old Trafford and Anfield as everywhere else.

The only difference concerns fans in the ground. Rather than having a message come up on the big screen (like below), there will be an announcement over the PA or message on the score board saying a check is in progress and why. It will not affect the actual VAR process at all.

I really loathe the advent of VAR.

imagine not having the history of hatred against all those referees, all those stolen victories, all those hated "moments"

It's what makes us blues, we'll have no-one to blame, nothing to discuss and matches that last 4 hours.

Will ruin the game as we know it. (edit; which is pretty much ruined now but you get my point)

Limit it to 2 appeals per Capt. To stop continued frivolous stop start messing about.
This

Like in the cricket world cup, you get a limited number of reviews.
