Players we really should’ve kept hold of

I miss John Stones cruyff turning in his own box and telling everyone to calm down. I bet it was hilarious on here when that happened based off what happens in the Tom Davies thread regularly. Also he's boss.

Lineker wanted out didn’t he? Seen an old motd interview with Desmond lynham asking venables and lineker about the move . Lauri mcmenemy told them they should be speaking to HK and it’s out of order.

Saying that, in those days there were no Bosmans so we could have forced him to stay, that being the case, Steven, Stevens tc should all have been kept

No, as far as I am aware he had no notion of leaving.

Now, could be when Barcelona approached him he wanted to accept their offer, but prior to that there had been no sign he wanted a move or anything.

Certainly that is what he says in this interview.

It seems absurd that a football club would sell a striker who had just scored 40 goals in his debut season – even for a 200 per cent profit – but that’s exactly what Everton did.

“Howard (Kendall) told me the club had received an offer from Barcelona,” explained Gary. “He said he would like to manage on the continent one day so it would have been wrong to stand in the way of a player given that opportunity.

“I wasn’t thinking of leaving, but when a club comes to you and says they have accepted a bid the writing’s on the wall, really.

I think you said it all there Carlin, he was tailing off drastically by the time we sold him and as we now know he did rock all after that so IMO the truth is we got good money for him and his career went downhill thereafter, shame but fact.

sorry if already said but wasn't he another one like Ball? didn't we ruin his ankles making him play so much so young and half injured, I heard we basically patched him up for the arsenal transfer where it promptly broke down not long after

Not a player I'm familiar with, enlightenment please.

A cracking right-foot finish captured on film

Superb player, according to Gowen, Snr., who bagged a goal every three games from the wing (or inside-right) and was yet another of the strong characters from the pre-war championship side purged - or, in the case of TG, placed in limbo - post-WWII.

Forgot about the Dunneymonster. Again, young talent not flourishing under Smith and Knox...
I watched a reserve game at Southport, and a young lad playing up front for Oldham ran him ragged,so after that I was never a fan,but he did go on to have a decent career (except for his og record).Bit like Keane in that he could only play well in teams that defended deep.
