New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I think there's a gradually (inceasingly so, wasnt the case the first few) more rushed vibe outside vs Goodison - particularly after the match. I figure people are rushing to get to Sandhills to try and beat queues etc, rushing to get out the wall. Last match I was having to move out the way for people behind me to get past - on the stairs leaving and outside - I can't ever recall that at Goodison.

When the weather isn't great - a big open space on the plaza, and along the water will see more people dive into the stadium. I think a few more seating areas in the fan zone, and some cover would work well - but it's a tough one as you need the space. It could be that space, that wasn't available outside Goodison - which allows people to rush about a bit more.
I think to some extent it might feel more rushed because there's more space for people to move around and be quick about it etc. I sat in the Gwladys and being rushed after the game there wasn't an option, whether you wanted to or not. You walked out into a solid mass of people and had no option but to join the slow trudge along the road until it it opened up by the church and statue, then if you turned on to Goodison Road you just got back into another queue. At the new ground the wide open spaces mean you've got more people speeding ahead of others after coming out, they're not necessarily in any more of a rush than they ever were, they just have the option of overtaking that didn't used to be available to them.

Been talking about this a lot with my old man, he told me thinks the club have bought land adjacent to the ground/on the opposite side of the road where Terry's Timber used to be? Could this area be potentially converted into the "cover" you rightly suggest we could do with?

I'm not sure if it is the Club specifically that's involved with the "Howard Kendall suite" space in Collingwood dock next-door to the ground, but I'm pretty sure the HW suite offer an affiliated hospitality ticket-plus-meal type thing, where you eat/drink in their facilities but then go over to the ground for the game. Perhaps more offerings like this, but more affordable/pay as you go options could help especially if they can occupy areas very close to the ground. And generally, the whole area is desperate for a few more "proper" pubs like the Bramley Moore hotel - Goodison had a decent network of places like that where people could congregate with cover.

I think you're spot on with this. People tend to walk fast when they can. Coming out of Goodison there was no choice but to 'go with the flow'

They're not

Club aren't involved in anything outside of the wall except the Heritage Society

Yeah that's what I meant by the last sentence regarding space - whatever the reason, there's a quicker pace IMO around the new stadium vs Goodison.

I think as the weather gets worse, it'll increase because people will go for shelter prior and people will be rushing not want to be waiting 1hr+ outside sandhills etc. At Goodison, I knew the train come every 15 mins at Kirkdale and I'd get on it. Now, if I was crazy enough to bother with Sandhills, I'd want to be there sharpish.

I reckon this winter will see more falls etc outside than Goodison ever had - even as a % of capacity. People rush more, and to be fair, the lighting.

Sandhills has been fine (at least for south enders like me). I expected absolute chaos, but it's been really good apart from Saturday where it seems Merseyrail haven't planned properly

Yeah the lighting in the streets outside is a problem, as is the bizarre pavement situation. I appreciate that the road isn't just for use on matchday but having random raised pavement sections in the middle of a road where thousands of people are walking in close proximity is asking for trouble.

Looks like they got a load of uncommitted assurances on stuff and told that all was well. Why was there no attempt by FAB to do their own research with other PL clubs on pricing of food rather than accept Aramark's answer on the Everton stadium's pricing structure being 'mid-level'?

They also encouraged Aramark to charge more money for some foods to make other foods more affordable...are they mad?! Stop encouraging them. Lol.

Aramark's answer to questions on queuing rails, lack of tills and hardly any food ledges are completely unacceptable. They no doubt dont want the cost to them as they'd likely have to supply the materials and labour for it.

FAB handed a wedgie there I think.

Stop giving this man things to work on, we'll be seeing every other clubs food pricing now.

True for now, but wait'll the severe weather arrives....there'll be no dawdling outside and the bottle necks will emerge. 🤔
We don't get severe weather in this country, not like a typhoon or snow storm is likely to land when we are playing Burnley at home

Put a big coat and a hat on and it'll be fine

I agree. I get the feeling the FAB dont like to tock the boat too much.

Yeah, experience seems to be very different if you're northbound rather than southbound

Which makes sense if you think about it - there's treble the number of trains I can get into town that you can to Headbolt Lane, so I'm presumably going to get through it three times quicker than you

Been fine every time I’ve used Sandhills.

Saturday sounds like a shambles though. It was at moorfields around half seven when I was getting the train home.
