New Shirt Sponsor

Ah, the memories come flooding back 😢
The Bavarian Hafner family opened a shop in Dublin in 1882 and became famous for their sausages.

My dear, late sister loved to rib me saying we were sponsored by Hafners Sausages 😀 She was a Leeds fan, there were lots of them around from the 70s.

I had that original sponsored jersey c 1979, they were our first and were on the jersey for our breakthrough in the 1984 Cup Final and the League win 84/85.

No sponsor on the CWC jersey - I think UEFA didn't allow sponsors at the time??

NEC for 85/6 through to the Cup win 1995.

Maybe we should go back to Hafnia or NEC!!!!

My sister converted to the true faith after a tour of GP with her then young family while on holiday in the early 90s,

We went to GP together to see the Blues after that - lovely memories.

No gambling firms or global consultancies please.

Electronics manufacturer such as Hitachi, Fujitsu, Siemens etc. would be my preference.

This is the electric (not internet) century, let's embrace it

I want X or Tesla … just for the rumours that Elon will buy us out and we will be the first footy team in history to play on mars

You’ve explained it all yourself.
I mean, to rule out association on that basis would be to rule out practically every company with the coiffeurs we need to sponsor us.

NEC? Will purchase copper wiring that is processed by Chinese companies.
Keijan? Polysilicon
Chang? Chinese steel purchased for bottling plants

I could go on. Ultimately this is neoliberalism and globalisation in action. Name a big company and I'll find a link back to Chinese product manufacture and materials processing and, in turn, potential forced labour

The answer would be to not have a sponsor at all... or a genuinely local company or charity with UK based labour and supply chains. But will they have the money? I doubt it

As long as it's not ugly looking, isn't involved in bombs or sweatshops and is going to last a good couple of years unlike our last few sponors I'll be happy. The UN Refugee Agency logo would be boss plus it's got a laurel wreath on. Something old school like Danka or Hafnia would be cool, but ethically Hafnia might be a bit questionable.

These youngsters...

😅

I have never bought Candy products, avoid carlsberg like the gnats p that it is, never used crown paint and standard life only deal with smes and certain businesses - I am a retired civil servant so I wouldn't be of any interest to them.

If I were, I would of course avoid them.

Ohhhh I thought you meant it was tainted because of their "magic wand" products

The rs were the first Div 1 team to taint their shirts with commercial advertising. Sadly it quickly became de rigeur on all clubs' colours, including on the RBJ that same season - 1979/80.
