Everton Youth Teams Thread

Thought the Cbs and keeper killed the midfield last night with how slow they were to play, Tamorth dropped their 10 every time our defence had the ball to block passing lanes into Patterson and Akarikiri with their 2 CM squeezing up onto them, Gomez then made movements that created 5 yards for the other 2 but by the time the CBs realised the space closed again resulting in them trying to miss the middfield out and hit Graham/ Ebere.
Surface didnt look to help either, Bouncy and made it a battle at times .

Justin Clarke was class. There was a knob head Tamworth fan trying to give him grief when he was warming up in the first half. At half time, Justin passed him over an energy drink out of the clubs drinks cooler. He then came on and played really well. Fair play for such a young lad to show some more bottle
who gives grief to a youth player on a tuesday night in the rain?

Didn’t Paul Tait our coach do anything to rectify the way we were playing?

There's only so much you can do with the players on the pitch. But to be fair to Tait he did sub off Moonan and OSS who I think most people would agree are 2 of the weaker players.

I also think people need to remember that although these are officially competitive games, they're still just development games for our young players and we have an obligation to develop all of the players that we've signed to contracts, not just the ones we think could be premier league players.

Keeping a player on when he's not playing well might be the wrong move for the team but the right move for the player.

On a side note, no Tamen last night. Hopefully that's just rotation rather than another mystery injury.

All good points.
I think we must remember as well that even if one player that was involved last night comes through to the first team then that is a great result. How often will you get two or three from one age group even a talented group... seldom if ever.

The academy is there to develop all young players as you say and the better young players play above their age group almost from the start, hoping that they will continue to improve by playing against and with players older than them.
So , a team is put together to develop every player but in particular to fast track those who may have a chance of a career in football down the line.

Fair enough I never saw the game but I was asking about Tait because it seemed , by the post I was asking, that Tait made no effort to rectify the continual mistakes of the defence, and being honest Tait has been there a long time and his teams have little style, character or individual play standing out.
