Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Really sorry to hear that BL. Hope you are fully recovered soon.

Sort of similar with me..I'm fed up of playing with injury and pain.

Also when the weather is like this I lose my enthusiasm for going out at night and playing.
I’m lucky in that while I’m obviously slower in my road running firstly I run against myself for my own enjoyment and then most races have age categories. Two weeks ago I was feeling the opposite of this morning having had a really enjoyable 1/2 marathon race and as a bonus was first in the V70 group . I’m still managing to run through Scottish winters but every year chips a bit of enthusiasm away!

A quiet one here today folks. Nothing exciting to report from my day but I did have a nice meal out with a couple of light refreshments before, during and after. The restaurant was quite an eclectic place which I found wonderful. The clientele ranged from a few (presumably) American tourists; the day after a wedding and still celebrating crowd; office workers and then finally two teenagers/early 20s in their Nirvana T-shirts. My table server was a really friendly guy with an accent that to my ear was London but not quite. He was good craic throughout, stopped frequently for a little chat and I liked that. All in all very pleasant and a much appreciated little time out of the grind.

My old Mum made a split pea and bacon ribs stew that is now commited to the past as I never got the recipe from her ,would you be so kind as to give me your Pea and ham in the likelyhood it is very close .TIA
Try this, it's very nice. You could always substitute dried peas after they've been soaked, they take about half an hour to cook.

I'm sick of the sight of jams/jellies. So far I've made apple and mint, Apple and sage, quince, plum and rowan. Still got to make blackberry, sloe, apple and rosemary and hedgerow. It'll last me years that lot.

I've also made quince brandy, quince and sloe brandy, blackberry vodka, sloe gin and plum gin. The winter nights I think will pass a bit more pleasurable.

Heartfelt wishes @peteblue

Evening everyone, been to Scarborough today. The town centre is a bit run down (where isn’t?) but I think it’s nomination for Worst seaside resort in the country is totally undeserved. Plus whippy ice cream at £2.20 is a bargain - they are £3.50 in these parts. Here’s a couple of pics. P.S. @anjelikaferrett Hope the eye test went well.

I’m with you G , I like the place. Many years ago I came back from there with a 5 foot AA road sign “Society of Radigraphers AGM >>> “ ( which is where I’d been) I hid it under my my bed for a couple of years in case my mum found it.

Good morning all. Happy birthday for next week @fandjango . Enjoy your meet up with friends and family. It sounds like a good time will be had by all! @blueloon I hope you feel better today - that must have been a shock to your system. @peteblue I can't add anything to what others have said. Very difficult for you and also very sad. @Gwladysover enjoy your time in York. @Armaghtoffee I've made soup too. Split pea and ham. My Nan used to make it so it's known amongst me and my cousins as Nanny's Soup. My daughter asked me for the recipe yesterday so I told her if she makes it she will be the 4th generation to do so!
Frankie is still her. Mum came to visit when she got up yesterday. He's been a little angel - he only woke up once both nights and had one massive crying fit yesterday when we were a bit slow making his bottle. He cried proper tears as well. That made me so sad. I had forgotten how labour intensive babies are. Mr F and I are exhausted🤣
We go away next Monday.I have never been so badly prepared for a holiday. The weekend isn't any good either because the Liverpool lot are coming up on Saturday for Frankie's Christening on Sunday. Im off tomorrow but I've got one of those eye tests where you can't drive gor hours afterwards.
Have a lovely day all x
Thanks 🙏

@peteblue I’m so so sorry to hear your news all I can do is wish you and your family courage in the ongoing sadness …..
….
Morning all it’s about 7 am here in Thailand and it’s a bit steamy humid .. my lad and I had a great day yesterday eating and bar hoping in an outrageously tourist jaunt which is something we felt we had to do just one time . We have a nice hotel in a pretty and quiet part of Phuket and for the most part that’s more to our taste .
The funny things you see …. I have a poolside room … the hotels a bit like. Being in Venice one great big lake with apartment and canals all joining together .. anyway we both did a double take at one of the guests in the pool in a full on wet suit ! It’s over 30 degrees and v humid so I can’t imagine how it felt

Try the lentils in a lovely warm Indian Dal
Can’t be beaten on a cold day especially with a nice spicy tadka stirred in and warm fresh chapatti to dip
Thats where the dislike started with dal ,I do fresh chapatti but use a turkish recipe that she loves and she likes curries but not every week which breaks me as I have had curry for breakfast a few times .I don't know tadka -writing this -but I will in five minutes ,I also make my own chutneys for eating with curry however I love them with cold meat and cheese as well . Nice football top by the way .I have noticed chinese like to wear full costume when bathing .

Afternoon everyone,

Just a couple of observations after a quick visit to town for a meeting......

1. BMD / Hill Dickinson stadium. Unless you look very carefully you'd never know that this was Everton's stadium. Apart from the crest which is barely visible from the train I can't see any reference to us. ( I appreciate that this might not get the case when you get much closer )?

2. For our many out of towners who visit and looking for a good , cheap lunch spot in town can I recommend Bundoburst on Bold St. Great Indian street food just like Mowgli used to be before they got too big. £24 for a 2 course lunch for 2 was excellent value and they brew their own beer.

Didn't see many RS shirts fortunately. Saw a few Atletico shirts and wishes the wearers good luck for tonight.

Come on Simeone, do the biz against those kopite gobshites.

Anyway have a lovely day everyone 😂
